Specter reportedly is saying that he would like to remain in public service after his Senate term ends at the end of this session. White House officials are keeping an open mind about possible job openings for him.
Specter, who was defeated in his March primary by Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Penn., is a close friend of Vice President Joe Biden.
Neither the White House nor Specter had any comment.
But talk of such a job is raising eyebrows among Specter’s Republican Senate colleagues. They’re taking a close look at his recent votes.
For instance, Specter seemed not particularly impressed with Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, whose nomination as Solicitor General Specter opposed last year...
This week he announced support for her Supreme Court nomination.

Specter is a whore, always has been.
Go, Arlen. Hope you can continue to serve!
Arlin Sphincter has worn out his usefulness for the dumbocrats.
Enjoy your retirement Arlin!
9:42 your are correct Specter is a whore and Madam Obama will hire him after all Obama runs a Whore House not the White House.
He better hope he can stay in "public service". This sorry beggar wouldn't last ten minutes on a real job.
As a Pennsyvanian, I have supported Specter for years. He has been a great senator for our state. I hope he quits when he no longer has something to give, and not because of the changing tides of politics.
4:06 He lost the primary and is out. You live in PA and did not know this?
