"Hey Joe,
Just wanted to give you and your readers a heads up and something you might want
to look into, but word on the streets is PRMC is NOT accepting Blue Cross and
Blue Shield insurance. I don't know if it only concerns outpatient testing or
the whole shabang. Hopefully your readers who work at PRMC can shed some light
on the situation."

OMG! That is what most people who do have ins. have! That's what I have and what's the point in having it if the local hospital doesn't even take it?
This is simply a GREED thing.
Unless this is something within the past few days, I believe its a rumor. I have BCBS and it was accepted at PRMC recently.
4 weeks ago I went to PRMC for scheduled testing by my doctor and BC/BS was accepted. 2 weeks ago I hurt my back and went to the med center, they referred me to PRMC for x-rays but they wouldn't accept my BC/BS then. The lady said that they only accept BC/BS if it is a SCHEDULED visit by your doctor.
Thank you Obama!!!!
My dentist just informed me that they will no longer accept BCBS and other insurance. We will have to pay, they will fill out the paperwork, and we will have to wait to be reimbursed. For people who live pay check to pay check, it will make thier insurance worthless, but this is a trend that we may see broadening. I'm not sure if they will use the BCPS fee schedule or not to set charges.
You can call the local BC/BS office to find out for certain.
BCBS is the largest carrier/insurance provider to people on the entire Delmarva Peninsula. I'm thinking this is rumor.
I just had a baby and the delivery and subsequent stay were covered by my BCBS.
I don't think its all Blue Cross Blue Shields. Its Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Choice and they haven't taken that for awhile. But I really think that is only for radiology testing (i.e. ct's mri's). Not sure about inpatient and ER visits and Labs.
I was told if I wanted to get lab work at PRMC with my BCBS, I would have to pay a minimum of $25.00. Whereas if I went to labcorp, there was no charge. Makes you wonder!!!
yeah, its just blue choice
Wake up people!BCBS is one of the worst health insurance companies around. PRMC and the area Doctors don't have to accept any insurance if they don't want to. It is not the fault of the hospital or the doctor if they decide not to accept the insurance; rather it is the fault of BCBS. This company and many like it have been screwing medical providers for years and I think it is about time physicians fight back. Remember, it is YOUR insurance, you picked it. If the reimbursements to hospitals and physicians suck, which they do, blame BCBS - Not Your Doctor.
True or false? Joe, go find out will ya cause I know the daily times won't.
It's the insurance not the hospital
I have BCBS Blue Choice & was just in the ER yesterday....However, I have had to pay for bloodwork done at PRMC before, so I no longer go there for those services.
Anon 2:41pm - I don't think most people get to "pick" my insurance company. BCBS is the company my employer goes with, they pay a share, I pay a share. It's been the same way other places I have worked as well.
A coworker’s colon oscopy came up, covered by insurance. The Insurance said they would not cover it in the doctor’s office so it was done at PRMC. The insurance will not cover it at the hospital. So the office was not approved and they will not cover using PRMC. Humana
