What a JOKE releasling to a parent. they should be charged. This is what the Magnet School parents are resisting for.
released to parents , they can smoke pot together. what a joke!
send them to ECI , tried as an adult.
Released to a parent, well well I guest they won't do that again.
14 years old! Wow.
This is good example of why my daughter hates WIHI. She has told me that she feels surrounded by drug dealers. I would send my kids to private school if I could pay for it.
Wow. Some of you lead sheltered (and judgmental) lives.
I may be an antique, but I remember pot smokers in my school way back when. Some were dregs, but there were plenty of honor roll students from "good families" who smoked. Most of them, their folks had no clue, nor would they have tolerated it if they knew.
Not condoning this and I hope these kids get the direction they need before they end up in a bad way. But you can't stereotype pot smokers. They come from all walks of life and social classes, in a wide variety of colors and ages.
Very dangerous drug there, would they have acted the same way if it was alcohol? We had three armed robberies yesterday--find a better way to spend law enforcement's time.
Yes, juveniles should be released to the parents. Thankfully, the persons who will decide what to do about the student's poor judgment are not frequent contributors to this forum, and they will most probably have the interest of the young offender's in mind when they make their decision.
Quite frankly, it is your right to be hard on yourself, but you do not have the right or privilege to be do demanding and unreasonable about what others do and how they should be treated!
You would expect that out of a kid who was a senior or junior but FIFTEEN?
5:05: First of all, magnet students sure aren't 14 years old! They would have been done with the program long before then, so your statement is ridiculous.
Also, do you really, really think if a kid is of magnet caliber, they are somehow immune from dabbling in pot? Think again! Truth is, the more affluent kids are the ones who buy it from their peers.
Get real....
If they caught two, I bet there was 20 that they didn't catch. I wonder how much grass was flushed at Wi Hi today?
Maryland is so Pro-Criminal no matter what the age of the suspect is! This is only teaching that they will get their hand slapped until they are 18 and then after 18 all their criminal charges for possession will be stetted. Put the Republican party back in charge!!!!
9:10...when the Conservatives take back the house and, maybe the senate in 2010...let's not go overboard and over step the way liberals have.
If these kids have a record of bad behavior then take them to task so to speak. Don't go on a witch hunt till you know you're hunting a witch.
hilarious. Banks and stores getting robbed everywhere nnd the clueless sheriff is arresting 14 year olds. Please
What a waste of time. Kid gets busted for pot wooptydo. Released to parent. Nothing come of these cases anway. For the students who didnt know these kids delt pot, now they do so guess what, you just put these kids in more business. I was going to say lower the adult age to 16 but crime is through the roof, sounds like it needs to be dropped even lower. Little bastards!
a little weed? wow! i've never heard of anyone smoking weed and goin out there and committing a serious crime! [they might steal a bag of potato chips tho.] we better worry about the kids drinking alcohol! refer grows wild..man makes alcohol..who u gonna trust?
To those who think pot is no big deal....what a bunch of morons! We live in a different time then way back when...when it WAS harmless. Plus I don't remember 14 & 15 yr olds dealing. And most times, this is a jump off drug to something more. Why in the hell would kids this age have it to begin with? I wonder how you'd feel if it were your teenagers that got caught?
What would the school have done if it were cigarettes? What about alcohol? I see no difference and anybody who does is still in the brain washed mindset of the government lies and propaganda of that movie Reefer Madness. If this was an adult, I would say SHAME ON YOU for judgment and disapproval!!! Since it's a kid it is a different story. Should they be punished? Definitely not from a legal aspect, but the parents need to teach the kids about responsible drug use INCLUDING information on tobacco and alcohol, both which have proven to be much more dangerous than marijuana. For all you people calling this guy a criminal... WAKE UP!!! I'm sure you are the same that enjoy a drink or a few drinks on occasion. What's the difference? I'm sorry, but the government simply got it wrong here... criminalize alcohol and legalize marijuana??? Listen to the doctors, the scientists, the lawyers, anybody in the know and you might find out that marijuana is NOTHING compared to the evils of alcohol. How many men beat their wives because they are drunk? because they smoked pot? How many people were killed from drunk driving? from driving high? How many deaths are attributed to alcohol? to marijuana? What about crime in general? Do you honestly think that marijuana causes more crime than alcohol? I can go on and on about why marijuana should be legal, but I have found that either you support it or you don't support legalization because you are close minded and don't want to hear the truth. If this last sentence offends you, then I suggest you do the research and you will find that our government, our school, our local law enforcement has LIED to you about this plant. After all, that's all it is... a plant. During creation, God created herb and seed, and he allowed the existence of marijuana because as the Bible says in Gen 1:31 - "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good..."
Maybe I just don't get it, but I am adamant in my beliefs when I quote lawyer Peter Tosh in saying "Legalize it!"
8:56 I'm not as worried about the use of the drugs but I do care about the DEALING of drugs in our schools.
8:56 I smoked weed and did a few dealings myself even before high school started.Wi Hi isnt the big problem, but on the streets where the kids grow up (Wi middle probably doesnt help much). I went to Wi-Hi as well and believe it or not, as hypocritical it may be, they shouldnt be doing it in school that early. I dont think the sheriff is going out of his way to bust these kids but more so the kids flaunted their business as well as act careless in hiding it. If these kids are dumb enough to get caught then they should be punished by the law. And everyone who said dealers and smokers come from all walks of life, it is true. I played sports at Wi-Hi and I came from a middle class family with no history of drug or crime use. Theres no harm for a little weed, but not from 14 year olds kids in our public high schools. Government, make safe access now. Oh, and Mr. Hughes( principal of Wi-Hi), how premier are you now? You need Ashby back.
My daughter was in magnet. She is in high school now. Don't be so judgemental & naieve to believe that magnet students are perfect. These students are more so at risk because alot of them experience excessive pressure from status happy parents who want to live their dreams through them. For the parent whose child feels "surrounded" by "hoods" tell em to focus on their studies. my daughter didn't hear of the incident. She attends the school & she's 14 too.
