How much will this good riddance cost the City of Salisbury?
What ailment would cause Chiefy to be incapacitated for the next 6 plus months, while he continues to be paid by the City of Salisbury to do nothing? Why are the official reprimands being removed from his personnel file by the Mayor, and will the City pay the legal fees of his attorney, Robin Cockey. And does Webster get a “severance package” (cash, etc.)?
Inquiring minds want to know the full details about Chiefy’s buyout deal.

This reeks of a save are face scam on the part of Ireton and webster.
They got togeather, even if not face to face, in addition to the city lawyer and dreamed up this hustle to save face on both sides.
Webster may be having surgery but I doubt it is from any injury he incurred while on duty. Just another element of the scam and buy out.
Well Mayor you got rid of him now all you have to to do is hire a real police chief. Please no more Baltmore rejects and someone who is willing to live in the city.
The new chief has got to have a dog in the fight(live in the city) or he/she will not be able to feel our pain.

I'd say, let him file his claim with workers comp! Let them investigate if the injury is really "work related", and if not let them prosecute for fraud. What injury can you receive from the desk that would keep you unable to perform your duties at work for six months? On the Eastern Shore there's an expression that fits.....

Webster should have been fired -- the day after Ireton was sworn in as Mayor! Even if the 3 stooges on the Council refused to back him up, Ireton would look like a leader and Bubba Comegys, Louweasel and Shameless would be the knaves.
Now Ireton looks like a wimp and fool with that "help is on the way" slogan. Webster gets a special deal and will be laughing every time he goes to the bank with his checks.

Let's all face facts here, there are no need for silly questions such as this. Webster is "resigning" "retiring" what ever you want to call it on his terms to save face and the Mayor has gone with it just to get rid of him. So for the work or lack there of that Webster has done for the City all of the citizens of the City will continue to pay him with your tax dollars for as long as he lives. Kinda stinks when you look at like that doesn't it? At 66 2/3 tax free he will bring home more pay then he would if he continued to work full time. Hell you can't beat that no matter what.

His price is 6 months of salary and a clean file on departure. With vacation and sick days, I am sure that there is at least another month of pay in there that we're going to have to pony up.
Of this salary, a bulk of it should be paid for by Worker's Comp insurance (assuming the city has it). If the insurance company investigates and determines that this is not a real work related injury deserving of 6 months off, we're probably screwed and stuck paying out of our own pocket.

Plus with the track record of any official, chances are this new Kat will be the same as Webster... Until you find someone who wont take BS and someone who will not care of the politics and bribes and someone who isn't afrid to stand yo and have a sack, even if retaliation could happen... Now that Webster is leaving, put the pressure on the three a-holes where it belongs. Ireton could get General Patton as our next chief and those three hollowheads would probably vote him down.
That press release falls to short. I agree, they should tell the people how he was injured, since thats his claim. I think it's just another money4nothin that this country just loves to give. You tell me, why does anyone do anything at all? The goverment; federal, state, county, town, will pay anyone to sit on there butts. Why bother anymore.

Yeah, it sucks....but I'm glad he's gone.
But most of all I really hope the new Chief is outstanding and we can clean up Salisbury for real.

Problem is. . .it was on HIS terms (as evidenced partly by the reprimands being removed from his record) and on the taxpayer's dime (trying not to even THINK about what this face-saving deal is going to cost us.)
Seems like Webster got all the concessions in this deal - to the point where he'll actually end up being rewarded for being a do nothing, good for nothing, arrogant, totally worthless so and so who was a true "Chief" about like I'm a heart surgeon. Honestly, he could've taken leadership lessons from the Pied Piper.
Until we get some real leadership in this city, this is the kind of "behind closed doors" CRAP we're going to have piled on us. I assisted in Ireton's campaign (to my chagrin) because I thought he had some cajones and would bring the city the help he was promising. Well, never again, Mayor! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
VERY little has changed since the election. Before it took place, this city had only two leaders in office who gave a damn about the citizens and showed some guts - Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen. AFTER the election, that's still exactly what we have - two good people who have some guts.
What's that old saying? "The more things change, the more they remain the same." You'd better believe it!!
the sad truth is he is going to be medically retired and he will receive a 66 2/3% disability benefit from the leops, law enforcement pension system, that he is apart of. that means he will receive almost 67% of his base salary for the rest of his life, tax free. what will make matters worse is if the city hires a chief that is a retiree from somwhere else. city residents and mayor ireton take head to this warning. hire a chief who has a reputation of being a go-getter street cop. if you hire a chief politician you are going to fall back into the same rut. your city will only benefit by bringing in a cop who will get in the trenches with his men and lock people up. demand that he wear a uniform everyday.

Ireton is still showing he is a coward because he is not calling the shots any more now than he was 3 months ago. Webster is living on his terms with more $$ to boot. He hasn't done his job in at least 6 months as it is so he should be repaying Salisbury for being a charity recipient. Salisbury has NO set of kahunas...none.

Of course, Ireton doesn't have the guts to get a new City Attorney anymore than he had the guts to fire Webster.
So the mayor is gonna announce to the public on monday who will replace webster. This is why the department has problems, they are ignored and have no voice. Chief Webster should have met with personnell before announcing the matter publicly and the mayor should meet with department personnel asap to put their minds at ease as to what is in store. Instead everyone goes running to the media. its sad that the officers have to find out who their next leader will be from the media. Ireton didn't like it when comegys went to the media and bypassed him and now he is doing the same thing.
I understand cop is having shoulder surgery for injuries suffered at work. For what? Pencil pushing or driving to & from? It must be replacement surgery, since others don't take 6 mos to heal. He needs to prove work related injury. A relative was involved in a shootout & injured a shoulder when he dropped to the ground to avoid gunfire. The injury wasn't considered work related & the surgery recovery time was less than 6 weeks, with a return to light duty. Now there's a bad smell coming from the woodpile...All of a sudden he'll retire, when just last week it was not a consideration...SSSuppp?
