REAPING WHAT THEY SOWED

There are 13 million people between the ages of 19 to 29, that do not have health care insurance.

The majority earn over $50,000 a year. The majority supported the change Obama promised. Under the proposed senate health care bill, they must purchase insurance. If they fail to do so they will be fined.

In response to a question from Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev) Tom Barthold, chief of staff, joint Committee on taxation, said if they do not purchase coverage and fail to pay the fine, they face a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty.

Do you think they will be sent to Gitmo? Perhaps that's why it needs to be emptied.

You would think that if the majority supportd health care reform, then the majority would purchase it, don't you think?

Perfect example of wanting / needing to be led around instead of being responsible and research so you will have knowledge about what you are agreeing to. This also proves laziness and taking others words as gospel. The end results is never the true meaning of the comments people make. Listen and research the facts. List the pros & cons of what is being stated. Be informed & listen / read everything and not be narrow minded for your own personal gain because it will always haunt you..

I think if you make over 50,000$ a year, you can afford insurance either provided by employer or you can get your own. I worked for 22,000$ per year and head insurance from my employer with me sharing a portion until I retired.

But now I'm drawing SS and cannot afford any health care, I pay cash as I go.
Maybe the socialized health care can be good to low income earners, you guys that make more than you need are just have to live with it.

The MAJORITY of 19-29 yr-olds make over $50K??
Hard to believe that number, Joel-- where did you get it?

Do you mean a majority of people make over $50k, or a majority of "young people?" I highly doubt that young people at the age of 19 are making this kind of money. Heck - i doubt a majority of people on the shore make this.

12:29 & 2:38 The data is from the U. S. Census, It does not single out any age in the group, but is the average of all 19 to 29 people. Believe it or not a good many earn over 75K.
11:17 Please don't tell us your on SS and have not yet reached Medicare age. If your too poor and qualify there is Medicaid. You just sound like another liberal trying to distort the truth.

The fine is actually proposed to be $1,900...probably cheaper than buying health insurance.

Naive group of young voters... everyone assumed that universal health care would be free and provided to all. Anyone with half a brain should know you would see either an increase in taxes or an additional deduction from wages in addition to social security and medicare.

But as a 25 year old who makes an average living, affording health care is not that easy. Any decent package will cost well over $200 a month. Its almost worth it just to cough up the cash every time you need to go to the doc.

I saw the other night on the news where there is legislation that would make it a misdemeanor to fail to have health insurance punishable by up to 18 months in jail and A FINE OF UP TO $25,000.

What a joke.
