"In 1991, just 49 public officials in the United States said they were gay, said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Victory Fund, a Washington D.C.-based group that works to get such candidates elected. Now, more than 440 out-of-the-closet gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals hold public office, according to the group, which also names 17 openly gay elected officials in Illinois."

I wondered why the YMCA got more funding.
What difference does it make?
anonymous 1:10, You see, one has a penis and one has a vagina.
Perhaps you could speak to someone about the birds and the bee's as this is not the place for such education.
You poor thing.
Here we go. As soon as we start building some momentum and the legislative wheels begin to spin in a direction that repub. don't like, they start to bring out their big monkey wrenches: the EVIL GAYS. next it will be abortion and then we'll be embroiled in more legislative deadlock
next you'll hear about replacing the red and blue on our flag with lavender and pink... by the way I herad they'er looking for some new page-boys for the congress
I could care less what someone's sexual preference is as long as they do the job they're hired/elected to do. Sexual preference should not matter.

Most religons condem gaydom! Even the Daily Llama says it's unatural*
I'd much rather vote for a gay man who respects the Constitution than a straight one who ignores it.
Chances are the numbers are no different than years ago, anyway. Nowadays it doesn't matter like it used to.
I hope and pray for legislative deadlock.
Slow this whole thing down!
Amen, 2:39!
What a person does in the bedroom is personal. I'd vote for a good gay man anyday over a dishonest straight one.
