Seaford Teen Arrested For Text Message Bomb Threat

State Police Arrest Seaford Teen in Text Message Bomb Threat – Message Indicated a Bomb at Seaford High and Middle School’s Tomorrow

Released Sunday, March 22, 2009

Seaford – The Delaware State Police arrested a 13 year old Seaford girl today after she generated a text message stating ‘On Monday the 23rd, Seaford High School and Middle School will receive a bomb! No lie!’ and began sending it to other people.

The investigation began after two area juveniles received the forwarded text message last evening and this afternoon. These persons notified their parents who notified authorities. The DSP began the investigation, and similar to Friday’s arrests’, were able to successfully trace the message back to the 13 year old girl.

The girl and her parents were contacted and questioned in regards to the incident. Detectives learned the girl had heard of the bomb scares on Friday in the Laurel School District, which resulted in the schools closing, and she decided to mirror the same incident in hopes that she would not have to go to school on Monday. She attends the Seaford School District.

Additionally, detectives confirmed she generated the message last night at approximately 10:30 pm and sent it to friends and relatives. Detectives have seized the cellular device and discovered the message was erased from the phones history. As a result of the investigation, the juvenile was arrested for two counts of misdemeanor Terroristic Threatening. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to the Stevenson House in Milford in lieu of a $5,000 cash only bond.

Note - investigators have discovered no evidence that a bomb was going to be placed in any of the schools.

Hopefully parents will tell their kids that these messeges can and will be traced back to them and they will get in serious trouble.
Let them know that this isnt a joke... I know kids will be kids but bomb threats and shootings will be taken seriously.
And I would hope that all parents start monitoring their kids cell phone use more closely. Look at what they text and are getting texted. And... look at the pics they have. Bet you would be surprised.

This is why kids shouldn't have cell phones!

What an idiot. Even after the news reports that the first text messages were traced back to their original source, someone else tries it again?

If I were her parent, she would know what sorry is. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot we cannot punish our innocent angels for fear it may damage them emotionally.

Funny how our children started going downhill when punishing your child started to be a bad thing. I'm not for abusing your children, but a smacked butt did not damage me. I knew where my boundaries were after getting a whooping.

Good. We've killed two birds with one stone. We've ensured that our children are safe, and we,ve put the smackdown on the brats who try to scare evryone.

I really hate it when names are not shown because the person is under 18. Wouldn't you want to know if that sweet-faced kid you're hiring as a babysitter, or to mow your lawn or help clean out your garage, is really a trouble-making punk?

If parents feel they must provide their kids with cell phones, they should provide a phone that has been programmed to only receive calls from designated numbers, and can only be used to make calls to designated numbers. If the kid isn't happy with that arrangement, I guess they don't need a cell phone at all. This nonsense of kids of all ages being perpetually linked to either a computer or a cell phone is crazy.

how do you discover something that has been erased?
