Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6am.
While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA ) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor

He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA ), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE )
and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA ).
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA ) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO ) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN ) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA ) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY ) filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia ) and continued his search
for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

In Malaysia ), Joe decided to relax for a while.
He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL ) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE ) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA ), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA ...

Then"Joe SMITH" started mid-eastern heating and air ran it with no liscence, screwed hard working American people out of $100,000.00 of dollars by installing hundreds of hvac and plumbing systems with-out the knowledge of how to do it. Lots complained to the Maryland hvac and plumbing boards, but they did nothing for years. Now all those people who did not know he was an illegal company have to spend thousands to fix systems that were new and wrong. Mr Smith simply walked away laughing and started up another illegal, unliscensed company. I quess because he was in the metroplitan magazine everyone figured he was legal,wrong. Now their paying for it. people make sure the person actually on your jobsite or home are legal citizens and legally able to perform the task your paying them for.
I've been saying the same thing for the past 15 years.
I believe you should post, once again, the 50+ local businesses that have exodus our area. Most are either in China, Mexico, or Tin Buck Tu.

In 1954, the first Toyota hit our Pacific coast. It was a Landcruiser to compete with the Willys Jeep. They stole, even copied exactly the design of our engines and transmissions. At that time, and into the 60's, Japanese autos were considered cheap and tinny. Fast forward into the energy crisis 80's and an ever efficiant Asian auto industry that actually sells their autos at a much higher price than they need to. Like almost any other issue that affects the country, there is plenty of blame to go around. we can not fix blame on any one group, be they unions, consumers, Democrats or Republicans. A case in point, I recently purchased a 3 speed tripod fan for less than $15. It is well made and is made in China, and sold through Walmart. I could not have purchsed a similar fan, made in USA ten years ago for less than $25. Now, what we gonna do about all this?
Think about this the next time you go to Wal-Mart.

5:34, duh... if you're that thick hereis my point. When American consumers are willing to pay a higher price for USA made products, regardless of level of quality, then a demand will bring back American manufacturing. This would be in direct contrast to the recent auto loan guarantee, where the Fed hopes to artificially ruduce supply(debt) in the face of falling demand, This will fail because consumers are not willing to pay as much for a product perceived inferior when they believe a better value exists. This would be true in a GOOD economy. My point is, we have to manufacture clearly superior products, or market them at a much better value.

I've got some GM and Gannett stock I can sell you for $35/ share. it's American as apple pie, you should love it. If you don't want it at 35, how about $50?
No... I am not endorsing that position, I am identifying it. I have repaired autos for a living for 30 years, so I am familiar with vehicle quality. For the record, I own lexus, Toyota Landcruiser, Subaru Outback, Honda Odessy, 2 Volvos, and a 57 Willys Jeep. I think it's clear wear I stand on my purchasing.
