Bike Week Is Over

Not without a massive turn out and millions of dollars being spent in Wicomico & Worcester County. Winter Place Park proved it can handle the crowd for next year and with some additional hard work, it can be a huge success. If you have any special photos you'd like to pass on from Bike week, send them along and we'll get them posted.

Oh, for those of you who didn't like this event, set your vacation plans for the week of September 11th next year and go away for the week.

I don't love the event, but don't mind it. However - please note that there is a daycare and preschool located in the cul-du-sac on Winterplace Pkwy. My child attends, and I felt that they needed better traffic and noise control for an event so close to where children play and where there are car loads of kids being driven to & from school. It also held up traffic terribly on Old OC Road near Beaver Run Elementary. I think it might be better to find a place for the Salisbury portion of the event that is not so close to two schools for very young children.

Well I for one, can honestly say that we loved all of the excitement at the park. We live very close, within walking distance, and we had no trouble with traffic at all. We could even hear the bands playing. It is great to see the park being used. I am glad to hear the plans are on for next year!

LMAO, Joe stole my recommendation from an earlier post on Delmarva Bike Week. But that's ok because this is the best thing that has happened to Wicomico County in years. This has been a major boost to tourism and the economy. The bottom line is that you can't please everyone, but I bet the majority of the citizens aren't complaining. I had a great time this week and spent a lot of money and I saw thousands of motor cycle enthusiests doing the same.

Were you all the ones next to the park on Old OC Rd with the signs that said "We Love Bikers" and "Thank You?"

If so I was impressed!

Joe, once again comes away unscathed. Looks like those that keep threatening to do bodily harm are nothing more than pussies.

I had no problem getting my child at Beaver Run and the kids were loving the motorbikes at Winterplace. Winterplace was perfect!

Ocean Downs had more bike builders and manufactures. winterplace was open till 7pm however many vendors were closed up or leaving around 6pm on friday. It was ok for the first year. Im sure next year will be better.

i would like to add one thing. i worked the delmarva bike week doing car parking. we had a certain entrance we wanted people to go into and exit out on the left hand side. this way we didn't have traffic crossing each other. you would not believe how many people in the cars did not know how to use there turn signals. they would pull up next to me asking is this where car parking is. even though the signs clearly showed car parking with arrows. but back to the story. the people asked me about car parking and i told alot more than one that i lost my ability to read their minds because i did not see their turn signals and that i wanted them to turn in the first entrance. i even had one of the police doing their drive by state that it's amasing on how many people don't use turn signals. all in all i think bike week went rather well. food for thought, if you don't think that a person has the ability to read your mind.....USE YOUR TURN SIGNALS AND DROP THE DAMN PHONE AND PAY ATTENSION....
thanks.....

I was the one with the signs in my front yard and my family and I loved the event. Sure the traffic was a little heavier on old ocean city road but the police agencies kept it moving. My 10 year old son Dillon was sitting in front of our house with a sign that said "rev it up" and to his enjoyment those bikers would "rev it up", wave, honk and smile. It was an amazing event! Thank you Salisbury for hosting such a great event. It is so nice to see Winterplace Park being used for great events!! We can't wait for next year!!

Way to go Wicomico County Tourism.. Kudos to you for another great job!!
