How Many Zeros In A Billion?

This is too true to be funny.

The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of it's releases

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain... let's take a look at New Orleans ... It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division. Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number... what does it mean?

A. Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,528.

B. Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans ,your home gets $1,329,787.

C. Or... if you are a family of four... your family gets $2,066,012.

Washington, D. C HELLO! Are all your calculators broken?

Vote for Ron Paul!

He is the only one who has promised to take out every one of these redundant agencies that we don't need
including the IRS!

If all of you people who don't want Obama, but are falling back onto McCain or vice-versa, and vote for Paul, then we would have real change.
We must break out of the ESTABLISHMENT candidates if the people are to have any say in the future of their country.
The media has blocked Paul every way they possibly can, but he has still gotten his message out to millions.
He is going to the RNC in Minnenappolils and he is going to challenge McCain to go back to the grass roots values of the Republican Party.
No War
No Taxes
No Welfare
Radically limited Government
No more printing money

FREEDOM AND LIBERTY FOR ALL AMERICANS

you would think with all those taxes we wouldn't have so many people wanting to move here, it must be because we turn around and give our tax dollars to those that don't want to work and won't work for a living.

paying children to have babies, it keeps them down, they will most likely never rise above and it's a trickle down affect that is carried on for generations.

its not the politicians, their all bought and sold by the corporate capitalistic power devils. ask yourself who owns the media, who owns the papers, who owns the banks. these are the true destroyers of this nation. they did all for greed. politicians are puppets.

Gordon Liddy had a good math formula to illustrate how much a billion dollars is.

How long would it take you to spend $1,000,000, that's one million bucks, at the rate of $1000 a day?

$1000 a day. A little tough to do but put your mind to it.

About 2 and a half years, right?

Now how long would it take to spend $1,000,000,000 ,that's a billion bucks, at the same rate of $1000 a day?

Think for a minute.

Try over 2500 years!!

Here's how I see it.
When I was a child, in the sixties, my mother stayed home and prepared us to be grown-ups. We played with the other kids in the neighborhood (for free), without a worry in the world about our safety. We wore sneakers from the dime store, read books from the library, and ate meals prepared at home by our mothers. There was very little violence on TV, and when there was some, we were appalled by it. And fast-food was unheard of, practically. Now, kids spend their spare time getting obese and learning how little life is valued by watching tv and playing video or computer games (which cost big bucks). They demand expensive clothes and shoes, and experience social interaction via facebook or myspace or IM. Their parents are afraid to discipline them because it's child abuse now, so they have no idea about limits. AND, to afford all these technological babysitters and status symbols, guess what, mom must work, thereby leaving the little darlings to be raised by day care centers or, worse yet, themselves. These are troubled and troubling times, for which I see no clear answer. It appears that we've got to teach our children to do better, and hope that somehow the next generation turns things around, again.

cruggly, do tell, who owns the media, the papers, and the banks?
You make it sound like it is one small group of evil-doers.

It is the Jewish Illuminati who are orchestrating the destruction of National Borders and the U.S. Constitution. They have a master plan to de-populate the world and much of our everyday technology has as its purpose, the destruction of the individual. Everything in the Media is a lie, as a matter of fact, most of what we hear in the Mainstream Media is exactly opposite of the truth. Black is white, up is down, the last will be first, and the first will be last. It is ugly. We Americans do not possess the ability (on a large scale) to understand reality. We live in an illusion. Everything we believe is real, is only an illusion. The media is about brainwashing us, and numbing our minds. We have been dumbed down by vaccines and public education. Our history has been re-written and many books are no longer available in our public libraries. It is very difficult to "know the truth".

Wymz,

I like Ron Paul more than I like McCain......BUT I think it's pretty clear that Ron Paul doesn't have a snow balls chance in hell in being the next POTUS. The real unfortunate thing is that a vote for Ron Paul is a vote taken from McCain - which is equal to a vote FOR Obama. Sorry kid.....it looks like another election where we are left to choose the lessor of two evils. I gotta go with McCain.

Vote for Willie Nelson!

We need Ron Paul despretly, but I fully agree with Grand dad. Perhaps Ron Paul could be McCains VP? Wish mccain were smart enough to realize it.... If Paul were Pres. with this demo. congress it would be grid-lock every day. We need 200 Ron Paul's, I truely believe its the demo. congress thats ruining this nation anyway.
