Two Years Ago Today At The Salisbury Zoo
Another mauled duck is found inside the Zoo while Zoo Director Jim Rapp waited weeks to set a trap and stop the killings.

Ugh. I check your blog every morning when I get up (and several times throughout the day as well), and this pic does not go well with my morning coffee. May I ask why you posted a two year old picture?
It's a reminder of the past in hopes that the future will be much brighter under Joel's leadership.
Jim Rapp was a very poor Director and more importantly, even my Wife stood up on PAC 14 one evening and confronted the Mayor and flat out asked her, "Do you still support Jim Rapp 100%?"
Many animals died under his leadership, many were horrible deaths. When the Mayor and I were on speaking terms I confronted her about some Ducks that were dying of Avian TB. Jennifer was still working at the Zoo when Joy Gibson was hiding these Ducks because she knew they were ill. They were dying a horrible death and suffering. Joy was off and Jennifer was working her area when she discovered the hidden and ill Ducks. She immediately discussed euthanizing these animals and Joy freaked out and started crying. She went to Jim Rapp and Rapp insisted Jennifer not put these animals down. Protocol insists whenever they discovered ANY animal with Avian TB, it must be put down to help stop the spread of that disease. Rapp refused.
I personally brought this information to the Mayor and she responded, (once again) I trust Jim Rapp 100%. I explained how these animals were suffering and she didn't care.
So ALL of you know, ALL of the animals Jennifer discovered died that very evening anyway. Thanks for letting them suffer Mayor Tilghman. Thank God they only had to suffer one additional day.
I should have been more careful about the time this Post went up. For that, I'm sorry. I'll buy you a fresh cup of coffee if you'd like?
To anon 9:07 a.m.--While I agree that it is not appetizing to go with your morning coffee, I am glad Joe does this. The phrase "Lest We Forget" comes to mind. It has been applied to many events over the year, especially WWII and the Holocaust. The Zoo, under Rapp, was a different kind of holocaust, but comparatively speaking, the number of animals that died under his non-leadership can be equated to the 6 million Jews and several other million Catholics and others put to death by Hitler and his minions. Do you agree, Joe?
WOW, that's pretty deep. All I can tell you is, (like I told Jim Rapp when he asked me what I thought referencing the drop in business at the Zoo in front of the entire Staff) "If you worked for me I'd fire you." Yes, we were on good terms at the point. And people wonder why the guy doesn't like me. LOL
Was this duck in a cage or swimming freely in the river. If in a cage then i am upset. If in the river, why shouldnt a raccon be able to catch a meal? Correct me if i'm wrong but the food chain does still exist doesnt it?
Anonymous 12:16, No, this was not caused by Avian TB.
Anonymous 12:33, This Duck was in an exhibit along the river but not an enclosed on. Mind you, there were 9 Ducks mauled over a 10 day period. I informed the Zoo Staff of the very first one and continued to find more as days went on. I can see your point on the first one. However, after they were informed they should have put out a trap because it was immediate one my Wife saw the first picture she knew is was a raccoon. Rapp refused to do so and like I said, over 10 days there were 9 mauled ducks. This should have been avoided and it was horrible management decisions that allowed so many to die.

I just may take you up on that sometime, Joe!
It would be my pleasure.

I should add, if this disturbes you, GOOD! That's exactly the point. Everyone should be outraged at how Mayor Tilghman has run this City!
Do I need to get a human turd floating in the river next to a Dog or a Duck for everyone to finally get pissed at the discharged from the WWTP.
If showing pictures like this one wake people up then I'm doing my job.
Man, that is what Avian TB will do to a bird?
