Joe:

How and by whom is this determined?

If the rating system is based to any extent on "hits", does the system factor out those that respond to the increasing number of non-political posts on this blog?

Michael, Michael, Michael!

There's only one person out there that would ask such questions and number two comes to mind.

Nevertheless, let me answer your questions, since I have nothing better to do. LOL

The ranking comes from a Nationally recognized Website called Blog Net News, aka (BNN). How they determine their results is beyond me. Monoblogue is #2 and belongs around #15 or so, IMO. Michael and I disagree on this matter and that will never change, I respect that. However, he gets very few hits/readership yet he's influential?

As for my non political posts. That depends on who's ranking you. If it's Michael, then my posts aren't political enough. If it's BNN, then they recognize that I'm all about LOCAL politics, so much so they even said so in the article referencing the Mayor and Web logs in today's Sunday Paper. There's only ONE Blog going after that Mayor and that's me. Again Michael, that's influential!

Oh well, I can't answer how BNN rank people other than to say every time I see Michael in the top 10 I firmly disagree.

Sir:

I agree completely with your evaluation of Monoblogue -- it's verbose tripe with a Republican stripe -- but by that same token Sbynews could be overrated also.

If you really don't know how the rating system works, why do you portray it as being significant -- is that because it put you in first place? What's the basis for you "Nationally recognized" comment about it? I've heard of Nielsen ratings, but not that done by "blog net news." Who/what is that???

Please don't let the full details on the SU lax players who have been booked for malicious destruction fall by the wayside. It's now being reported that one of them lived in a rooming house in the Camden neighborhood that the City's enforcement official (Stevenson) recently exempted from the law that restricts occupancy of homes in the single family neighborhoods to not more than 2 unrelated persons. If so, this is more front page stuff that we won't ever see in the Daily Times or Duvafiles unless this blog takes the lead in exposing it.

In short, keep up the good work!

Uuuuuhhh...I didn't ask that question Joe. But I'm glad to know what you think of my website.

My sights are set a little higher than on the mayor of a small city.

"If you really don't know how the rating system works, why do you portray it as being significant -- is that because it put you in first place?"

I will repeat, it says most influential. I do not believe Michael is influential, period. I do not believe Democrats are going to his site every single day and being converted, that's influential.

On the other hand, Republican, Democrat, Independent, it doesn't matter what your background is, they ALL come to my Site and I can assure you, Mayor Tilghman, (for example) doesn't have a shot in the world at retaining her Mayoral position and even in today's article in the Daily Times it clearly mentions the Blogs and we all know which BLOG it is they're talking about, Salisbury News is influential enough to STOP her.

The same excuse was made by former Council President Michael Dunn. He admitted he couldn't handle the Blogs. Again, my point is, if there's any Blog out there making a difference and people are listening, like it or not, Salisbury News leads the way. Granted, it may only be local and or State wide but nonetheless, it says influential. I agree that the Pocomoke Tattler belongs in the top rankings for the very same reason. They're making a difference as well. Many politicians may not like us but guess what, the honorable ones DO!

Hey Joe, don't cut yourself too short. I am a democrat who will be voting for Andy Harris because of you. Well, not really because of you but because you brought this man to our attention and I believe he's the right man to represent us on the shore. I'd say that's taking influential to an extreme.

I am another democrat that will not vote for someone who is following in the current governor's policies. I will be voting for Mr. Harris also!

And another here, democrats for Andy Harris.

I should add that I was also a democrat for Wayne Gilchrest and voted for him twice.

However my correspondence with Wayne's office about the sewage overflows in the river left a lot to be desired, due to that I also thought it was time for a change.

I am a registered democrat, when it's time to vote in the general election I'm truly independent.

Joe:

I still have not figured out this ranking system with BNN and probably never will.

The way you have placed 'influential' then I guess the Pocomoke Tattler does fit the bill.

We have exposed open corruption at Pocomoke City Hall.

We have helped to institute meaningfull changes to the political process here in Pocomoke City.

We have brought the Worcester County Sheriff's Dept in to police the Open Air Drug market which for decades has been endorsed or controlled by members of the Pocomoke City Government.

We have fed information to Federal investigators about the openly corrupt municipal government in Pocomoke City.

We have exposed lies and deceiptful actions from elected officials and the unelected Dictator of Pocomoke City; King 'Boss Hogg' Russ Blake, City Manager...

The City government is still openly corrupt.

The City of Pocomoke still has an unqualified councilman who has moved outside of his district.

The City of Pocomoke still does not broadcast ANY City Council meetings.

The City of Pocomoke still does not have a qualified, certified building inspector, yet the one on staff still condemns buildings for demolition based on orders from Boss Hogg.

The City of Pocomoke gave away 3-square city blocks of downtown waterfront for $750,000.00 to a development group whose shareholders still have not been disclosed.

The same councilman who is illegally retaining his council seat sold a tiny 50' x 100' lot in the middle of the 3-blocks mentioned above to this development group for over $300,000.00 and he did not recuse himself from voting FOR the sale to the unidentified buyers.

We have gotten the city to clean up it's act publicly yet they are still crooked in private.

The Mayor recently used an unlicensed home improvement contractor to paint his house because he was recommended by the City's unlicensed, un-certified 'housing inspector' for the job.

We notified the Mayor that the contractor was not licensed by the State of Maryland and his resonse was "...he was recommended by Harvey Davis (unlicensed inspector) and has done lots of work for other people including churches here in Pocomoke..." and "...he told me he was licensed in Virginia & Maryland and I don't need to do a background check on everyone who works for me..."

We never posted anything about the Mayor of Pocomoke City using unlicensed home improvement contractors in the hopes he would do the right thing, but he has not done so.

The Pocomoke City Government is still openly corrupt but we put the pressure on Boss Hogg whenever we can.

We only had about 25 comments this week on the blog section of the Tattler but the forums had another 50 to 60 comments. The Tattler forums with less than 100 registered users has over 1,500 threads with tens of thousands of page views, but they do not count towards any BNN points.

As for being "influential" Statewide I am still baffled and honored for being selected but our goal is to expose the openly corrupt Pocomoke City Government until meaningful change in the form of removing the crooked City Manager from office takes place...

That will be a reward for the citizens of Pocomoke City & the taxpayers for the entire State of Maryland who are fleeced for millions annualy by the open corruption.

Boss you and wymzie both write very well and with substance. I was almost tempted to comment on the post by wymzie about Israel and Palestine but just knew it would turn into a crap slinging festival.

I'm am glad we are still all free to speak our own opinions, even if I don't like them all, referring more to comments there. Keep up the good work folks.

Thanks for your commitment to open government. We seem to have a case of smog here as well, government leaving us in the dark at every opportunity.

Citizens are like mushrooms, fed a bunch of crap and leave you in the dark is the order of the day.

the BNN rankings are a joke. Tattler didn't even write any political posts this week.
