This should make for a really good thread/post. The reason I say that is, how do you feel about the driving habits from local delivery companies such as UPS, FedEx, DHL and others? Do you feel they're aggressive? Do you notice their speed on the roadways around here? Tell us your experiences as I'm sure everyone else, (including these companies) would love to hear it.

On my street, the only driver with packages that goes slowly is the Mail Carrier. All drivers from UPS, FedEX, etc fly up and down the road, whether they have deliveries or not.
I realize they are on a time cruch and want to deliver as fast as possible, but it seems very dangerous.
Happened in Ocean Pines
There was a UPS truck in the right turn lane at a major intersection, and decided to get back in the straight lane - running me off the road. He acted like he didn't know what I was talking about at the next light when I approched his truck. He was lucky 1. I'm female. 2. I had my kids with me.
One thing I'd certainly never call FedEx is fast... the laziest group of people ever met in my life. That is their Express division, Fedex Ground is fine.
The owner/operators,the guys who actually own their trucks,are paid by the package so they have an incentive to deliver as many pieces as possible.The subcontractors,guys who just drive and deliver,get dick as far as pay goes.My husband used to sub for a Fedex operator.
BTW,most of them keep a box of dog biscuits in their trucks too-they call them "ass-savers"

What bugs me about UPS is they park
just about anyplace, which includes double parking. I think they should be required to follow normal traffic laws and if they don't, ticket them until they get the message!

UPS drivers are employees. UPS owns the trucks.
Fedex drivers are contractors or employees of the contractors. Fedex trucks are owned by the contractors.

You know, you are right about the UPS drivers. One day I was heading down 50, and there was a UPS driver who cut over on me. THANK GOD there was no one behind me, as I hit the breaks to keep from hitting him. For the record, I was not in his blind spot, nor was I tailgating.
These drivers are under enormous pressure to get their daily haul delivered. That doesn't excuse some of the agressive driving. What it should do is lead to a movement to work on UPS Management to lay off these guys and support safer driving.
Someone once told me that there is a device affixed to the drivers seat that allows UPS Managment to download information on how long the driver is out of the truck.
That sort of contradicts what I heard about a local UPS driver and a certain SPD Detectives wife. If the seat timer is correct, that particular driver was really making "quick work" of his delivery! : )
I heard a story once, I don't know how true it is but here goes...
In the first week of driving for UPS, a supervisor rides along with the new driver. At the end of that "training" time period, the driver is asked to do the route running into and out of the delivery stops. S/He is then made to adhere to that time frame. They don't take lunch until the end of the day in case they need that extra time. That's why you see them parked at Hoops or other places near UPS at around 4-5pm. I don't think that's very fair to the drivers or to the other folks on the road with them.
I don't have a clue as to if this is valid or true, but thought I would chunk my two cents in.

Double parking complaint? How long are they double parked? Maybe 2-3 minutes tops? Get over it.
These guys do a great job to get packages delivered quick and cheap.

He may have gotten hit from behind, but that doesn't mean it was someone else's fault. For example, I struck an SUV from behind one day on my way to work. Guess what? It wasn't my fault. I was struck from behind. Also, given where the damage is, it is quite possible two other scenarios could have happened--the driver could have hit something like a pole, or the driver could have cut someone off and that person hit him.

Hey, Sooper, said driver could have put a couple of packages in his seat to equal his weight and take as much time "delivering" as he wanted. ;)
