The word on the street is that the Light House Diner on S. Salisbury has been shut down by the EPA. Something about a bad pipe that hasn't been fixed in a timely manner? I have been told, BUT NOT CONFIRMED allegedly, "the EPA shut down the Lighthouse Restaurant for suposedly dumping sewage into the creek/stream/river."
I tried calling their business, 410-749-5515 and there's no answer. Considering I called at 11:30, one would think they would be eager to answer for the upcoming lunch business, so it must have some credibility.
I'll look into it more and keep you updated.........

As I can tell you've never been there, the chances of someone picking up the phone are slim to none. The quality of the food is decent, as the price is cheap. But they don't have someone by the phone all the time.
The food is just below dennys in quality, but is great for those 3am after the bar meals.
where r ur pics man the MDE is out at The Lighthouse
where do u get ur info from i just drove by and its opened
I work in the plaza and just looked out the window...it looks open there are about 7 cars in the parking lot and the lights are on!
I just drove by and they are open and there are cars in the parking lot.
There is no creek/stream/river they can dump into.
Could some one have meant the one on rt 50 that was built to resemble a light house????
yes they are back open with raw sewage running into tony tank as we speak its coming from a white pipe from behind their store and it smells like crap. since the daily times wont answer their phones why dont you come take some pictures?
It doesn't make sence that they'd have raw sewage flowing outside, since they are on city water/sewer, it doesn't cost to use the sewer, it's built into the water cost.
Maybe their grease trap was overflowing? That will do it too, cause a backup from the floor drains in the restaurant, that is reason for the health department to shut it down until corrected and can also smell like crap.
China Cafe at the Food Lion shopping center on Snow Hill road all of a sudden shut their doors a few weeks ago. It was a family owned business with a few employees. I called to place an order over a week ago and the phone was disconnected.
I did like their food, the place was clean, the owners were nice and the prices were fair for a nice portion. An indication of what is yet to come? Time will tell, I guess between the mayor and the GOV's new taxes somebody is going to be biting the bullet.
Maybe what they flush down the drain at Planned Parenthood is clogging the pipes...
Oh my gosh, did I just say that?
How politically incorrect of me!
Wow!My Dad,my daughter and I stopped in there for a quick lunch one day last week and having never eaten there before,I wasnt sure about it-but it was pretty good.I ordered the Kids menu spaghetti for my daughter and while it was actually linguini pasta(novices think all pasta is "spaghetti")it was a HUGE portion and our adult lunches were good-sized too!I liked the food,it was just as cheap as fast food but better, and the service we got was outstanding!!!
I got a salad there, once. Haven't been back. It tasted like they used the oil from the deep fryer in my very simple salad.
They should be closed, IMO.
I eat breakfast at The Lighthouse Rest. on S. Salisbury Blvd on a regular basis. I have always enjoyed the food, the service and the cost. They have a daily special of two eggs, two hot cakes or french toast and meat for $4.75 it is a huge breakfast. And they keep the Java coming. It is a good rest. with reasonable prices. I don't know what all of the flack is. If they had a drain problem, I'm sure it has been corrected. Anyone who is in the business knows that "ship" happens, and you just deal with it.
I guess Joe never wanted or cared to follow up, just make the unsubstantiated false claim and let it be.
The only false claim here is someone challenging me under anonymous.
They shut down for a period and reopened. It was even confirmed by WBOC.
My best friend is a waitress at lighthouse diner... and they did shut the doors at around 12:30 AM Friday morning and they re-opened friday afternoon. One of the pipes burst and they were shut down until the problem was corrected. Joe was right when he said that it had been shut down and for all that said that they rode by and it was opened... it was.. they reopened that afternoon.

Hey guys, stop being so harsh and give these guys a chance. I've been going to the Lighthouse diner in Salisbury for 3 years and I've never had a bad experience. The place is clean, the food is great and the family atmosphere is second to none. The owner Natalie always goes out of her way to make sure that me and my family always have a wonderful experience. Let's try to be fair and remember that after all, it is a diner. This means great prices for great food in a diner atmosphere. Our favorite place to eat in Salisbury year after year!

Hey Joe, in life unexpected things happen and good people take care of the problem immedately. I am a regular customer at the lighthouse diner and love the food, service and owners. I hope a pipe never breaks in your house, because then I will have to start a blog with your picture telling the cyber world that you are a dirt bag............
I guess Joe never had a pipe brake in his home. It is sad that it happened. They had to close, it broke in the middle of the night. They fixed it first thing in the morning.Great for me,it is my favorite place to eat in Salisbury.I love the food the service and the managment.Like they said in earlier blogs, they make you feel like family.
I eat at The Lighthouse about three times a week. They have the best food in town.Don't forget about the wonderful staff and management.Like the people said in other blogs when you go there they make you feel welcome, and like you are a part of the family. It is sad that they closed for a couple of hours to fix a broken pipe, but I am glad they are back. And remember pipes break, its not thier fault.
Guys I eat at the Lighthouse all the time. As everyone else said , the food portion is very reasonable for the price. The management and staff are very friendly to there customers , you don't find this at most places. . THE SAGE SUCKS! If the pipe broke, it broke. To everyone who hasn't been to one of the best restaurants in Salisbury . . TRY IT! I promise that you will like it.
Thank God for The Lighhouse Diner and all of you sane people who support it everyday! Natalie and staff...continue on...You all rock! Joe..come on buddy, less talk and more eating at Lighthouse will cheer you up...
