Terry Cohen / Daily Times

The delay in publishing a letter to the editor of the Daily Times from Terry Cohen, candidate for one of three Salisbury City Council District 2 seats, was due to a simple misunderstanding and the candidate’s unusually heavy schedule, according to the candidate. The letter had been provided to broadcast and electronic media, the latter of which published the letter on some sites.

“My letter conformed to a previous 300-word limit of the newspaper. I was unaware that the Daily Times now has a policy limiting letters to 250 words. When the newspaper notified me, I opted to revise the letter accordingly myself,” Cohen said.

“However, due to unforeseen work and personal demands, I was unable to immediately resubmit it. It has now been revised and resubmitted. Publication is anticipated some time this week,” the candidate added.

Cohen said she released the letter to other media because its message was appropriate for a wider distribution than just the newspaper’s. With this release, Cohen said, “I simply wanted to inform the public of the real reason for the delay.”
