William E. Gordy, Deputy ChiefA volunteer that was promoted to the 3rd ranking officer in control of the Salisbury Fire Department while he had less than 2 yrs service with the City.
He is a volunteer who basically runs the entire fire department. He has that vehicle with a free gas card. He can take it anywhere he wants and responds to any call he wants to, even though other Chief officers are on the call. He jumped over numerous volunteers with more training and time.
Yep, you just gotta love those FOB's!

He also was in the running for the fire chief's postion six years ago.
He owns all the Gordy Marts around town, so I don't think the gas card means much to him.

Bill Gordy has more than twenty years in the fire service. He served a vast majority of that time a "Line Officer" of the department. Five years he was the "FIRE CHIEF" of the Delmar Fire Dept. I beg to differ that there is anyone in the Salisbury Fire Department that has any more fire training than he. Only a few may match total training hours. You better stick to the zoo or City Council topics that you know something about. Quit "ASSUMING" something you know nothing about.
He was cut by the Fire Chief search committee each time(3) and the mayor kept putting Gordy's name back in with the finalist. The mayor ended up picking Steve Brezler because one group of volunteers wanted Gordy and another group wanted another guy. Now the ones that wanted Gordy don't feel that way.
There is a running joke around the fire department that it is called the BGFD.
