There have been more Sheriff vehicles than you see City Police vehicles within the City Limits lately.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this but there are as I understand it overlapping areas that each agency has jurisdiction in. Some streets and thoroughfares have green street signs ,and some have white. One color, the green I believe is the county's resposability. The white signs denote the city's turf. I may have it entirely backward. All calls go through central dispatch and are routed from there to whichever agency has juridsdiction. My wife was told this by her best friend who is an LEO.
