Yesterday Jennifer and I took a stroll around our property in Willards and came upon a brand new deer stand directly on our property, completely illegal. As we were tearing down the stand, three 4-wheelers came racing across the field next to our property and while they were riding in our direction all we could hear them saying was, "OH SH*T!"
It had to kill these people to watch us tear down this brand new stand and walk away with it but you know what, tough sh*t! I must have posted a hundred no hunting no trespassing signs around this property. They just don't listen! I've read articles about people getting snagged all over the Eastern Shore for illegally hunting and I simply thought it might not have been as wide spread as I had originally thought but I just can't keep people off my property.
Now I'll call in DNR and hopefully they make a few arrests and some of these people will learn? Have you seen or heard of similar problems where you're from?

The only time it's even remotely acceptable for a hunter to cross your property is when they are tracking a wounded/dieing deer or other game.
But, Joe be careful, some of these good old boys are, lets say ain't the smartest and they may want to extract some revenge for the removal of their "weeks salary". I know you are big and bad and you aren't scared of them, but that won't do you much good when one of your horses is laying dead in the field.
I had a buddy of mine that use to paint COW in big letters on each side of his Beef Steers every year during rifle season.
I actually watched one good ole boy try and weigh in a goat at the deer checking station in Snowhill about 10 years ago.
Remember, they ain't too bright and they are armed!

Do keep in mind that we too are always properly armed and never go on that property alone and or without family always knowing where we're headed.
I'll never have an issue explaining to an Officer how I heard shots and I simply shot the SOB trespassing on my property in defense, "any" of my properties.
Fortunately SRR, this property doesn't have any horses on it and or a residence. But I'll make sure I paint HORSE across them when we do decide to build there. LOL

The 2 weeks of rifle season is nothing but a huge party for most of these guys, they get a week away from work and wives and they let loose just like they do in OC in the summer. Booze, Porno and high powered rifles, great combo huh.
No respect and an abundance of tylenol for the hangover.
I've seen 40 thousand dollar John Deere tractors with bullet holes in them, now I'm a pretty observant person and I can't ever remember seeing a Green Whitetail!!

Great name, by the way. Sorry about the tree stand. I used my truck to gingerly pry it off the tree full throttle. Whoops! Looks like it bent up all over the place and the straps holding it to the tree snapped. Not very safe or sturdy against Hemi!!!!!
I thank God the tree is still standing and received no damage whatsoever.

We got amateurs poachers and we got pro poachers in these parts. Some o' the pros are pretty tough cookies. The kind that don't like bein' surprised when they're preppin' their illegal kill.
Years ago, there was a DNR fella, white hair and mustache. Think he mighta run fer sheriff and has passed away since. I think his name was Bagwell? My memory stinks anymore these days. Anyhoo, I seem t'recall he was a tough nut 'bout spotlightin' deer and poachers.
Don't know what the DNR is like these days, but hopin' they still got some fellas like the gent I'm thinkin' of.
Just a-hopin' yer trespassers are the amateurs. Kinda sounds that way from yer description, but ya never know, so keep awares.

God rest his soul. They said he'd arrest his mother if he caught her wrong. BUT I'm here to say he let me off one night when we were coming in with our duck'in boat, guns loaded and with birds that were not exactly legal. He wasn't sure so he let us go, but he made us unload the guns. If I remember right he was Federal Game Warden and not State DNR.
