Pictures Don't LIE But Salisbury Mayor Jake Day Does
Folk Festival - Saturday evening 9/7/19
Your local media wants you to believe this was a record event for Salisbury. Hey, who knows, maybe they're telling the truth compared to last year. Nevertheless, don't buy the BS the event was such a great success. I read this morning they raised an ESTIMATED $40,000.00 in the bucket brigade. What's wrong with these Liberals, they can't add?

Just curious of people’s opinions if this is a bit extreme just for 1 student? Is this the tail wagging the dog? Is it fair to all the other students in the class that they can’t have Fritos or Cheetos in their lunch now for the whole year or that they can’t trade their Oreo cookies for a Ding Dong at lunchtime? I understand about safety but come on! Just curious of what the readers think...

I'm just curious why Jake Day gets to put his campaign signs up on City property at the Salisbury City Park and across the street on at a vacant house. You can see 2 of his signs on the Snow Hill Rd. side of the park and 2 across the street. Is he that full of himself that he thinks he is above the law?
The Real Deal about Salisbury's Population Growth
Jake keeps bragging that Salisbury is the fastest growing city in Maryland, which is probably true. What he is not telling us is that our population growth rate has been decreasing over the years. Our population growth rate from 2010-2018 is 7.5%; from the years 2000-2010 our population growth was 29%.
The population growth has slowed.
FACTS:
Salisbury, MD
2000 Population - 21,500
2010 Population - 30,343
2018 Population is Approximately - 32,800
Between 2000-2010 we were adding an average of 884 people per year.
Between 2010-2018 we are pacing/adding 307 people per year.
*Since our populations median age is growing younger, we have to assume we are having more babies to add to our population. People are certainly not running here because of our growing economy and high paying jobs. But, who are the people that are moving here?

Wayne King Candidate for Mayor of Salisbury

A Viewer Writes.......... WCBOE: elementary school spelling and reading.
Pardon me but I have a children that attend Wicomico County schools. 3 in Pittsville Middle School. And I have my youngest 2 enrolled in to Prince St Elementary School. Above is a letter sent home from the school advising that county wide spelling would no longer be apart of the homework and curriculum and they would no longer be graded on. However they will send home "words of the week" that are completely optional and expressed that they will not be graded on such words. Now the homework assignment for my 1st grader is to read 20 minutes a night which for any father of a little girl that has the chance should be a highlight of their day. And to color the assigned day to show they completed the assignment.
My question(s) are as parents of these students and the amount of money going into our school system. Why are we allowing them to no longer teach/require our students to know the basic necessities in life. Reading and spelling go hand in hand through phonics and context clues is how we all were taught. Why aren't our children being given the basic needs we are sending them to school for. Illiteracy is always suppose to be a big deal in our area and now we have elected to require them to spell basic words. At what point do citizens of this county say hold up to much money spent infrastructure and salaries that we have allowed them to longer teach spelling. And at what meeting did the county get parents involved into that decision making process.

O’Rourke to gun owners: 'Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47'
Beto O’Rourke, a fierce advocate of gun control, was cheered for saying that if he is elected president, he would take action to remove weapons from gun owners in America.
While some candidates have suggested voluntary buybacks for owners of those types of guns, O’Rourke, 46, has gone further and voiced his support for mandatory gun buybacks for owners of AR-15s and AK-47s. During Thursday’s debate, O’Rourke was asked if he was proposing taking away those guns and responded, “I am, if it’s a weapon that was designed to kill people on a battlefield.
“If the high-impact, high-velocity round when it hits your body shreds everything inside of your body because it was designed to do that … Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47, we’re not going to allow it to be used on fellow Americans anymore,” the former Texas congressman said as the audience broke into raucous cheering.

Beto O'Rourke: 'I don't see the policemen going door to door' with my mandatory gun buyback plan
MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — Former Texas Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke, a White House presidential contender, confirmed Saturday at the New Hampshire Democratic Party Convention that his mandatory firearm buyback plan would not include law enforcement door knocks.
“No. I don't see the law enforcement going door to door. I see Americans complying with the law. I see us working with gun owners, non-gun owners, local, county, state, federal law enforcement to come up with the best possible solution. I have yet to meet an owner of an AR-15 who thinks it's OK that we have these kind of mass killings in this country,” O’Rourke said when asked by the Washington Examiner about specifics of his plan.
When pressed further about how he plans to enforce his proposal for those who would not comply, he responded, “How do you — how do we enforce any law? There's a significant reliance on people complying with the law. You know that a law is not created in a vacuum."

SERIOUSLY? BICYCLE LICENSES ARE COMING
New York City Mayor, and not so popular Democrat Primary Presidential Candidate, Bill de Blasio wants to require you to have a bicycle license as well as a helmet to legally ride a bike and promises to regulate cyclists with stricter law enforcement.
De Blasio and “progressive” allies have pushed New York city towards redesigning their transportation away from fossil fuel-powered motor vehicles to “formalize and codify a hierarchy of street use that prioritizes pedestrians and cyclists over private cars [BikeNYC2020].”
However, the nearly 100 miles of dedicated lanes for cyclists have generated a spike in collisions involving cyclists and pedestrians as well as motorists.

It's Time to Re-Segregate College Sports?
Sports writer and commentator Jemele Hill has long been more interested in peddling leftist race bait than, you know, commenting on sports. For years and in multiple instances, Hill has made controversial remarks mixing race and politics with sports. But because Hill is black, people like Joe Biden say she can’t be racist.
Nevertheless, writing her first article for The Atlantic, Hill argues for segregation at the nation’s colleges and universities.
“It’s Time for Black Athletes to Leave White Colleges,” reads her title. She argues this re-segregation should happen because “black athletes have attracted money and attention to the predominantly white universities that showcase them.” Instead, she says, they should redirect their talents to historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
She’s not entirely wrong about some of the disparity among blacks and whites, or about how colleges rake in major profits from unpaid athletes. And in one sense her argument is thoroughly American — she advocates for the underdog to prevail against the giant.

Police: Couple spends more than $100,000 after bank accidentally deposits money in account
A couple in Pennsylvania is facing felony theft charges after spending money that didn't belong to them.
WNEP reports Robert and Tiffany Williams' bank deposited $120,000 into their account on accident.
It was a mistake made back in May by a teller, the news agency reports.
The couple did not contact the bank about the mistake but allegedly spent most of the money in two and a half weeks in June.
Authorities say the couple bought a car trailer, a camper, two four-wheelers and an SUV. They also used some of the money on bills, cash purchases and gave $15,000 to friends in need.

Trump says he won't debate primary opponents
President Trump on Monday indicated he would not be willing to debate the Republicans seeking to run against him in a primary for the party’s 2020 nomination.
“They’re all at less than 1 percent. I guess it’s a publicity stunt,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House for North Carolina.
“To be honest, I’m not looking to give them any credibility,” he added.
Former Rep. Joe Walsh (Ill.), former Rep. Mark Sanford (S.C.) and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld have each announced campaigns against Trump.
The Arizona Republican Party earlier Monday canceled its 2020 presidential primary contest, joining the GOP in South Carolina and Kansas. Nevada may follow suit as the Republican Party seeks to clear Trump's path to reelection.

Chicken 'causes cancer': Oxford University scientists say people who eat poultry are at increased risk of developing deadly disease
Eating chicken puts consumers at a higher risk of a rare form of blood cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, as well as prostate cancer in men, according to researchers from Oxford University.
The research involved tracking 475,000 middle-aged Britons over a period of eight years between 2006 and 2014.
Their diets were analysed alongside the diseases and illnesses they suffered with.
Around 23,000 of them developed cancer.
'Poultry intake was positively associated with risk for malignant melanoma, prostate cancer and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma', according to the paper published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
