Salisbury City Council Agenda & Packet for 4-24-17

BREAKING NEWS The pro-E.U. Emmanuel Macron appears headed for a runoff with the far-right Marine Le Pen in the French presidential race

In France’s most consequential election in recent history, voters on Sunday endorsed Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen — one a political novice, the other a far-right firebrand — both outsiders but with starkly different visions for the country, early returns and projections indicated.

The result was a full-throated rebuke of France’s traditional mainstream parties, setting the country on an uncertain path at a critical moment when France’s election could also decide the future of the European Union. The two candidates appeared to be headed to a runoff on May 7.

City of Salisbury Will Be Leaving The County Government Office Building

While I have been saying this for years, it seems we are getting closer to a reality when it comes to the City of Salisbury leaving the GOB within the next two years.

Of course I predicted this. I had stated that they would sell off the parking lots Downtown for peanuts and land a deal with the buyers to rent space from them. How else can they keep the Good Ol' Boy system in place. Sell to your friends for next to nothing and reward them with monthly rent that would guarantee them a successful investment.

So expect an announcement that Mayor Day will cut a deal with Gillis Gilkerson, (or whatever they are called now) for construction to begin on parking lot 1, (2 hour free parking lot) because THREE Mayors refused to pay the $1.00 to own 1/2 of the current GOB. It just never ends around here.

Question to County home owners. Do you want to be annexed into the City of Salisbury or any municipality for water and sewer services if several lots around you have a failing septic system?

On Bill O'Reilly, IT'S ABOUT TIME!

While I know many of our viewers have enjoyed Bill O'Reilly over the years, I get that. However, there is no place ANYWHERE in America where a man can sexually abuse any woman.

So FOX made a clear choice, we're not going to take this crap any more. Good for FOX. Clearly there was overwhelming evidence as well as some 50 sponsors who stepped in and canceled their ads, enough was enough.

So as far as Salisbury News goes, we're done with Bill O'Reilly and we are not going to get involved in the BS let's feel sorry for Bill. He's done and so are we. Everyone simply needs to move on.

A Viewer Writes: Please Help!

I was hoping you could raise some awareness on this situation. My sister is a 16 year old sophomore at James M. Bennett High School. Today, the school took her out of her classes, sat her in the office, made her miss her lunch, and finally threatened to suspend her for wearing a rainbow skirt. Mind you, she identifies as gay. She gets bullied and attacked for this, and today was told that she wouldn't have been called a fag had she not been as open about her sexuality. I've read the Tinker vs. Des Moines case, and a rainbow color skirt, worn by a female of any sexuality, does not cause disruption of any sort except to those who are inconsiderate and cause disruptions anyway. There are children being attacked, and they're more worried about a rainbow skirt. If you have different opinions, that's fine, thank you for reading, but I know a lot of people in Salisbury read your page, and it would be awesome to shed some light on this situation.

A Viewer Writes: Princess Anne Police

Joe,

I was shown a photo of a local eastern shore police officer that has posed on social media in such a manner than does not depict the best image of law enforcement. With the current climate against law enforcement to pose with your weapon drawn in view of citizens requires officers to have to complete a report and file a use of force report. This agency in particular has that same policy. The current Chief of the Princess Anne Police Department has taken part in investigations that led to the termination of a Somerset County Deputy by posting pictures of the Patch and Badge on Social Media. It seems unfit and unbecoming to allow such behavior to occur from an officer who continually acts in a manner unbecoming of a person who upholds the laws of the State of Maryland and the Town of Princess Anne. Some other actions of his that have been overlooked is unlawfully entering a residence and was found when the tenant returned home early.

Deputies in Louisiana arrested Jared Dylan Smith after they say he yelled the profanity next to a 75-year-old woman and quote, "clearly disturbed her peace."

No one else heard it, and Smith denies it happened, but he was arrested and spent a night in jail.

A Viewer Writes: Intersection of Parker Road and Phillip Morris Drive

Hi Joe,

I drive down Old Ocean City Road most days coming home from work. The intersection of Parker Road and Phillip Morris Drive desperately needs a left-turn signal. Those of us going straight through have to wait for turning cars, and they have blocked off the area to the right of the traffic lane so no one can pass. I’m tired of having to sit and wait and miss lights. Can you publish this and see if you can get some support? Thanks.
