Experience ‘Pemberton Park After Dark’ on June 13
Salisbury, Md. – Gather your friends and family for an adventure at Pemberton Park - After Dark on Friday, June 13. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a finger lickin' good chuck wagon meal. Dessert will be packed up "hobo" style before venturing out for a hike in the woods. During the hike, look and listen for fox, coyote and flying squirrels as they are lured in with electronic devices and learn to identify a variety of frogs by their calls. The evening will conclude with a bonfire where participants will enjoy music, dessert and roasting marshmallows. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight and chair.
Pemberton Park is comprised of 262 acres of forest, field and wetland habitats and 4.5 miles of nature trails located at 5561 Plantation Lane in Salisbury.

Gay Eagle Scout Asks Amazon.com To Stop Donations
Seventeen-year-old Pascal Tessier of Kensington, Maryland, and 49-year-old Geoff McGrath say donations through the AmazonSmile program should be suspended until the Boy Scouts lifts its ban on gay leaders.
They said they had 125,000 signatures gathered through Change.org in boxes turned over to an Amazon security guard.

In Light Of Federal Court Ruling, OCPD ‘To Tread Lightly’ With Boardwalk Street Performers This Summer
After two successful challenges in federal court to the resort’s ordinance regarding street performers, the latest of which came down last fall, some of the teeth have been removed from the town’s somewhat stringent laws regarding the omnipresent street performers and buskers on the Boardwalk. However, on the eve of another Memorial Day weekend, the OCPD is intent on acknowledging the First Amendment rights of the buskers while looking out for the interests of the public and the Boardwalk merchants.
Last November, a federal judge ruled against the town of Ocean City in a civil suit that challenged the 30-foot noise ordinance for street performers on the Boardwalk. That ruling came on the heels of a 2011 federal court ruling that the town’s ordinance in part violated a spray paint artist’s First Amendment protections for freedom of speech and expression. As a result, the federal court ruling allowed street performers and artists to sell or collect money for certain expressive materials.

Voters have had enough of bloated and dysfunctional governments. The public sector still wants to own, control and run everything itself; no major company could survive with this kind of attitude ... Successful countries will be those whose government choose to do less – and do it better ... Fiat money is at base a form of indirect wealth transfer from those forced to hold the money to those issuing the money.
I describe the pernicious servitude created by debt as debt serfdom, as serfdom implies a neofeudal arrangement that requires serfs' acceptance of this financial yoke of servitude. In other words, debt is freely accepted as the line of least resistance in a system that incentivizes debt and places high barriers to debt-free independence from a Status Quo operated to benefit the owners and issuers of debt, not the debtors.
Correspondent Jeff W. has identified an even more insidious form of monetary servitude that he calls fiat slavery, as the servitude is enforced by fiat (unbacked government-issued) money.

Minivan Strikes Officer, 3 Police Cruisers in Prince George's County
A Prince George's County police officer suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a minivan following a traffic stop of another vehicle in Forestville, Maryland, Thursday morning.
The crash happened just after three officers had finished a routine traffic stop shortly before 9 a.m. on westbound Pennsylvania Avenue near Walters Lane.
As they returned to their cruisers, they saw a black minivan veer off the road toward them, Police Chief Mark Magaw said. The three officers tried to dive out of the way, but one was struck and wound up under the minivan, which also hit all three police cruisers.

eBay has urged its 128 million users to change their passwords following a cyber attack that has compromised its databases.
Hackers were able to steal what eBay claims is a 'small number' of its employee login details, allowing them to infiltrate its corporate network.
The cyber attack was made between late February and early March and gave hackers full access to eBay customers' name, encrypted password, email address, home address, phone number and date of birth.

RICHARD PHILLIP MATTHEWS CONVICTED OF FINANCIAL CRIMES AGAINST THE ELDERLY BY WICOMICO COUNTY JURY
On May 21, 2014, Richard Matthews, age 42, of Salisbury, Maryland was convicted of 3 counts of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult and 3 counts of misdemeanor theft by a Wicomico County jury. The charges against Matthews arose out of his offer to three different Deer Harbor citizens to perform automobile detailing or other tasks in exchange for money he required to be paid in advance. These events occurred between May 2, 2013 and May 27, 2013. Matthews faces a maximum penalty of nine years incarceration for the crimes. Sentencing has been deferred pending a pre-sentence investigation. He will be held in the Wicomico County Detention Center without bond until his sentencing date. Matthews had a moderate prior criminal record.
