Popular Bumbo Infant Floor Seat Recalled
About 4 million Bumbo Baby Seats are being recalled after nearly two dozen reports of infant skull fractures.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says babies can wiggle out of the floor seats.
About 1 million of the molded foam seats were recalled in October 2007 for additional warning labels against placing the Bumbo seats on raised surfaces, such as tables or kitchen counters.
Special Ops Group Attacks Obama Over Bin Laden Bragging, Leaks
(Reuters) - A group of former U.S. intelligence and Special Forces operatives is set to launch a media campaign, including TV ads, that scolds President Barack Obama for taking credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden and argues that high-level leaks are endangering American lives.
Leaders of the group, the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc, say it is nonpartisan and unconnected to any political party or presidential campaign. It is registered as a so-called social welfare group, which means its primary purpose is to further the common good and its political activities should be secondary.
In the past, military exploits have been turned against presidential candidates by outside groups, most famously the Swift Boat ads in 2004 that questioned Democratic nominee John Kerry's Vietnam War service.
The OPSEC group says it is not political and aims to save American lives. Its first public salvo is a 22-minute film that includes criticism of Obama and his administration. The film, to be released on Wednesday, was seen in advance by Reuters.
"Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not," Ben Smith, identified as a Navy SEAL, says in the film.

What Does Liberty Really Mean?
For some time now – years actually – I have pondered the nature of liberty. Or more specifically, what liberty actually means to me. And to be extra clear, I am not talking about the meaning in abstract or philosophical terms, but tangibly – in much the same way I might answer if asked what my wife means to me.
The trigger for this entirely personal discourse comes from reading various articles and viewing various YouTube videos and speeches from self-styled champions of liberty (COL). There is even an entire conference, Mark Skousen's FreedomFest, dedicated to the topic.
Invariably, these well-meaning COL rail against "The Man" (something I do myself), accentuating their public angst by sharing stories of being molested by the TSA or otherwise inconvenienced by minions of the state. It is my contention that most of these individuals, and certainly the majority of "freedom-loving" Americans, don't actually understand the meaning of liberty, but rather give the matter little more than lip service.
And again, I don't mean liberty in an abstract way – like, say, "world peace" – but tangibly.
Now, before going on, tripping emotional wires as I do, I feel the need to quickly establish my bona fides on the topic. I start with the simple fact that with age, and 58 years old counts, comes perspective. In addition, unlike most of today's COL, I have actually been jailed for rioting against authority – at the naïve age of 14, as the result of actively participating in the toe-to-toe anti-war confrontations during the Oakland Induction Center Riots of the late 1960s.

The American left is the most self-indulgent, arrogant, and spoiled group of people on the face of the earth. They live in a nation facing national bankruptcy and societal upheaval -- a country presently subsisting on the residue of past economic achievements. Yet the only things that matter to them are their lifestyles and imposing their self-determined superiority on rest of the American people.

On the other side of the ledger: the annual Gross Domestic Product (the value of all economic activity in the U.S.) is $15.6 trillion. The indebtedness to GDP ratio is a staggering 14.2 to 1 and guaranteed to further accelerate if Barack Obama is re-elected.
The United States is not facing bankruptcy, it is bankrupt. The primary factor that has kept the nation afloat over the past four years is that the dollar, albeit temporarily, remains the world's reserve currency, thus allowing the Federal Reserve to print enormous sums of money to cover the Obama budget deficits and flood the global market with near worthless cash. Today it requires $100.00 to purchase the same goods $10.00 purchased in 1950.

Va. Ends Fiscal Year With Nearly $450M Surplus
Gov. Bob McDonnell said the state government ended the latest fiscal year in June with an unspent balance of $448 million, but more than 90 percent of it is already obligated by state law, including a 3 percent pay bonus for state employees.
McDonnell told the General Assembly's budget-writing committees on Wednesday that total savings from government operations for the past 12 months include $187 million from state agencies and $132 million recouped from higher education and other sources.
Those funds, along with a revenue surplus of $129 million announced in July, gives the state enough to provide a one-time 3 percent bonus in December to employees with solid job-appraisal records _ about a week-and-a-half's additional pay before taxes.
Ex-CIA Analyst Explains The Real Reason Israel Wants To Strike Iran Before The US Election
For months senior Israeli officials have said the "window of opportunity" for attacking Iran's nuclear facilities is "before the U.S. presidential election in November" because Iran's nuclear facilities will soon be in fortified underground bunkers out of the reach of Israeli bombs.
But former CIA analyst Ray McGovern believes that delaying Iran's nuclear capabilities is not the primary concern of a military strike, but simply the pretext.
"The Israelis want to pretend the Iranians are building up their nuclear capabilities, want to zap them between now and November 6, and the chances are at least even that they will try to do that thinking the U.S. will come in with both feet," McGovern told us.
McGovern thinks that "Israel does not fear a nuclear weapon in Iran's hands" because Israel already has a nuclear arsenal and the threat of Iran having a couple of nukes "would not be all that credible except in a limited, deterrent way."
That deterrent would be important, however, because "since 1967 the Israelis have been able to pretty much do whatever they want in that area" and a nuclear Iran would bring a "different strategic situation because, for the first time, Israel would have to look over their shoulder."
So even though Israel's leaders don't truly fear imminent nuclear annihilation, McGovern says they "would like to end any possibility, however remote, that anytime soon Iran could have that kind of very minimal deterrent capability."

Its Time To Take The Battery Out Of Your Cell Phone
On Tuesday, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth District threw the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution out the window, ruling that police can track cell phone GPS data – and thus track you – without a warrant. The case of United States v. Skinner centered on a suspected drug trafficker who was tracked through his cell phone and arrested by the DEA. The Judge in the case, John Rogers said in his ruling, "Skinner did not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the data emanating from his cell phone that showed its location." He went on to say, "Law enforcement tactics must be allowed to advance with technological changes, in order to prevent criminals from circumventing the justice system." There are two ironies to this decision. One, the Supreme Court ruled in January that cops could not place GPS tracking on someone's car without a warrant, so yesterday's ruling affirms that cops can track cell phones but not cars. Two, the ruling comes on the heels of the discovery of TrapWire – the massive law enforcement surveillance system that is tracking every Americans' whereabouts in order to detect terrorist threats. So, Judge Rogers's worries about criminals being able to circumvent the judicial system are unfounded. Never before in history, has law enforcement had this much surveillance and technology to keep tabs on Americans.

THIS Is Why The NOAA Supposedly Ordered 46,000 Rounds Of Ammunition
Last night we put up a post mentioning that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) placed a request for 46,000 rounds of mostly hollow point, copper jacketed, .40 caliber rounds of ammunition.
The order was attributed to the National Weather Service and received quite a bit of attention.

The National Weather Service stations in Ellsworth, Maine, and New Bedford, Mass., are slated to receive 16,000 rounds of .40 S&W jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullets.
Jacketed hollow points usually have a layer of copper around the lead to provide strength and prevent the barrel of the gun getting fouled up with soft lead. Hollow point bullets are designed to expand when they enter the body, causing as much damage as possible to internal organs and tissue.
6,000 rounds of S&W JHP will be sent to Wall, New Jersey and another 24,000 rounds of the same bullets will be handed over to the station in St. Petersburg, Florida.
St. Pete. is the only city that's not receiving 100 or more paper targets to assist with training of agency issued sidearms. Two hundred targets are going to Maine and Massachusetts, but only 100 to New Jersey. So, 46,000 rounds and 500 targets.
We talked to Scott Smullen, the Deputy Director of NOAA Communications & External Affairs who says the announcement is a mistake and is apparently being corrected at the time of this writing.

MAURICE JAMES CONVICTED OF ATTEMPT FIRST DEGREE RAPE
On August 15, 2012, Maurice James, age 19, of Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland, was convicted by a jury sitting in Wicomico County of attempted first degree rape, attempted second degree rape, third degree sexual offense, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment. The State expects sentencing to be held in approximately sixty days. A presentence investigation and psychiatric evaluation have been ordered. The Defendant faces a sentence of life plus consecutive sentences for lesser offenses.
Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matthew A. Maciarello commended the Salisbury University Police Department for their investigation of this case, and thanked Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes who prosecuted this case.

Obama's Educational Excellence Initiative
President Barack Obama recently wrote an executive order that established a White House initiative on educational excellence for black Americans that will be housed in the Department of Education. It proposes "to identify evidence-based best practices" to improve black achievement in school and college. Though black education is in desperate straits, the president's executive order will accomplish absolutely nothing to improve black education. The reason is that it does not address the root causes of educational rot among black Americans. It's not rocket science; let's look at it.
The president's initiative contains not one word about rampant inner-city school violence, which makes educational excellence impossible. During the past five years, Philadelphia's 268 schools had 30,000 serious criminal incidents, including assaults – 4,000 of which were on teachers – robberies and rapes. Prior to recent layoffs, Philadelphia's school district employed about 500 police officers. In Chicago last year, 700 young people were gunfire victims, and dozens of them lost their lives. Similar stories of street and school violence can be told in other large, predominantly black cities, such as Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, Oakland and Newark.

Security Guard For Conservative Group Shot in DC
Police said the man, identified as Floyd Lee Corkins II, entered the front lobby of the Family Research Council in downtown Washington around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, began arguing with a security guard and then shot him in the arm. Corkins, 28, was restrained by the wounded guard and others and was being held Wednesday night on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, the FBI said.
