Kimberly Smedley of Atlanta pled guilty today for illegally injecting silicone into the buttocks of her customers.
Smedley is not a doctor, and the silicone in question wasn’t the kind used by real doctors in real hospital rooms, officials said.
Instead, she was using 100-centistoke-dimethyl silxane fluid, which is intended for metal or plastic lubrication, as an additive for paint, or a furniture or car polish.
Smedley pleaded guilty to conspiring to introduce and deliver into interstate commerce an adulterated and misbranded device. She faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Two thought provoking and disturbing studies out Wednesday raise major questions about conduct of the “War on Cancer.” One examines the quality of basic research and the other concludes that half of current cancer deaths could be prevented.

Jensen Beach Boy, 7, Saves Sister in Swimming Pool Mishap
JENSEN BEACH — Brady Banasiak, 7, was the hero Saturday when a birthday party for one of his aunts almost turned tragic.
The blond-haired, blue-eyed Brady saved his 2 1/2-year old sister, Brooke, from drowning after the toddler fell in the pool at the family's home in the 500 block of Ember Way in The Pines subdivision.
"It was the worst sight ever," dad Rob Banasiak said of his daughter's fall.
The family was having a 40th birthday party for one of mom Julie's sisters.

Stockton Gets Ratings Cut by Moody’s as Bankruptcy Option Looms
Stockton (3654MF), the California city on the brink of bankruptcy, had its pension-obligation and lease- revenue bond ratings cut by Moody’s Investors Service on about $341 million in debt.
Moody’s lowered the city’s 2007 pension-obligation bonds to B3 from B1 and reduced the 2006 lease-revenue bonds to Caa1 from B2, the New York-based rating company said today in a statement. The ratings are six and seven levels below investment grade, respectively.
The action “reflects the growing likelihood of default and the potential for less than 100 percent recovery for bondholders as the city continues down the path of mediation and potential bankruptcy,” Moody’s said in the statement.
The Stockton City Council on Feb. 28 agreed to invoke a new California law that requires cities to negotiate with creditors before seeking bankruptcy. Stockton, an agricultural center about 80 miles (130 kilometers) east of San Francisco, was forced down that path because of soaring retiree costs, accounting blunders and the weight of the recession, City Manager Bob Deis has said.

IRS Seeks 4,000 Agents, $303 Million for Obamacare
The Internal Revenue Service wants to add about 4,000 agents to hunt down tax cheats and still plans to spend $303 million building a system to oversee Obamacare even though its future looks bleak in the U.S. Supreme Court.
A new Government Accountability Office review of the IRS 2012 tax return season and the taxman’s fiscal 2013 budget request also found that the agency’s customer service rating has slipped and 5.5 million returns were delayed a week because of a computer programming glitch.
The news isn’t all bad though. A March 20 GAO performance audit found that the agency has seen a steady increase in e-filing and had processed 68 million returns so far, a 3 percent bump. What’s more, IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman said that the American Customer Satisfaction Index for his team has jumped to 73 percent and he added that for every $1 spent on enforcement, the agency collects a return of $4.30.

Eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Jeffersonians warned that if the day ever arrived when the central government became the final judge of its own powers, Americans would then live under a tyranny. Entertain Me, Please.....
Today I was told the Daily Times did a story about Mike Dunn filing ethics charges against certain City Council members. A friend confirmed their story was on page 2. HOWEVER, I looked just about everywhere on line and there's nothing there.
So, that being said, I'd love to know just why they're keeping it from the on line edition. Is it because their print edition is so minute any more that the only real audience they have left is on line? That would be my guess, allow me to explain.
You see, the ethics board kindly asked ALL involved to please hold off from saying anything to the public until AFTER they came through with their formal letter. Of course, this is exactly what I mean when I stated earlier today that the Daily Times and WBOC will simply manufacture news. They had no formal findings and had been asked to respectfully hold off.
Being that the Daily Times has fallen so far behind Salisbury News, they went ahead and printed an article anyway, a one sided article at that.
Mike Dunn, (former Council president) simply had his ass handed to him by the Board, yet the Daily Times put a spin on their findings. I was told Dunn called some liars and corrupt. Nothing like the good old Mike Dunn sense of humor, eh?
You see Folks, while we do not have the formal letter I can tell you that the ethics board ruled in favor of the Council Members as they did not violate anything.
The Daily Times has in fact hit rock bottom. They published a story without facts and simply QUOTED Mike Dunn, once again.
You made the right move cancelling your subscriptions to that wanna be newspaper folks. Salisbury News will deliver the ethics boards formal findings in the next few days once it becomes available.
My hat is tipped to the City Attorney and City Council for refusing to participate AND respecting the ethics boards wishes.
I'll close with this Folks. If you haven't figured it out yet, the Daily Times has been publishing BS stories lately, even planting a reporter, (who gets everything wrong) at all work sessions and council meetings to spew whatever Mayor Ireton and Laura Mitchell want published. They are quoting those two like there's no tomorrow and since I do attend many of these meetings I can tell you that once the Mayor spits out his hate, that reporter actually leaves the council chambers and sits in the hall with her laptop and starts putting together her story.
Mind you, this is usually within 30 minutes of the meeting getting started and its very clear she is there for only one purpose, to get the hate spread immediately and forget anything else that goes on. The Daily Times desperately wants to get rid of those council members they dislike and they are playing a political game many of us old Bloggers were targeted for many years ago. Funny how Greg Bassett goes on radio and TV spouting how they are held to a higher standard. That guy is so full of sh!t it isn't funny.
They just published yet another custom story for the old Tilghman Administration today and it goes to show you, none of them went away, including former Mayor Barrie Tilghman.

U.S. Acted To Conceal 9/11 Evidence

The US government shut down a series of court cases arising from a multimillion pound business dispute in order to conceal evidence of a damning intelligence failure shortly before the 9/11 attacks, MPs were told.
Moreover, the UK government is now seeking similar powers that could be used to prevent evidence of illegal acts and embarrassing failures from emerging in court, David Davis, the former shadow home secretary, told the Commons.
The Justice and Security green paper being put forward by Ken Clarke's justice ministry has already faced widespread criticism from civil rights groups, media representatives and lawyers working within the secret tribunal system that hears terrorism-related immigration cases.
Davis demanded to know how its proposals could be prevented from being used to cover up crimes and errors. "In light of previous revelations about the UK government's complicity in torture and rendition of detainees to locations like of Libya, Afghanistan, or illegally into American hands … how will the Government prevent the Justice and Security green paper proposals being misused in a similar way to cover up illegal acts and embarrassments rather than protect national security?"
Davis said that in 1998 the FBI seized upon an opportunity to eavesdrop on every landline and telephone call into and out of Afghanistan in a bid to build intelligence on the Taliban. The Bureau discovered that the Taliban regime had awarded a major telephone network contract to a joint US-UK venture, run by an American entrepreneur, Ehsanollah Bayat and two British businessmen, Stuart Bentham and Lord Michael Cecil.
"The plan was simple" Davis said. "Because the Taliban wanted American equipment for their new phone network, this would allow the FBI and NSA, the National Security Agency, to build extra circuits into all the equipment before it was flown out to Afghanistan for use. Once installed, these extra circuits would allow the FBI and NSA to record or listen live to every single landline and mobile phone call in Afghanistan. The FBI would know the time the call was made and its duration. They would know the caller's name, the number dialled, and even the caller's PIN."

Saudi Arabia Will Act to Lower Soaring Oil Prices
High international oil prices are bad news. Bad for Europe, bad for the US, bad for emerging economies and bad for the world’s poorest nations. A period of prolonged high prices is bad for all oil producing nations, including Saudi Arabia, and they are bad news for the energy industry more widely.
It is clear that sustained high prices are starting to take their toll on European economic growth targets. They are contributing to trade balance deficits and feeding inflationary pressures. It is an unsatisfactory situation and one Saudi Arabia is keen to help address. In an interconnected world, European economic growth is in our national interest. No one benefits from a stagnating European economy and we want to do what we can to help encourage growth.
Tackling Soaring Oil Prices
A press spokesman for Barack Obama today left concerns over the consumer costs of fuel – with gasoline costing some $4 per gallon across much of the country – unaddressed.
Les Kinsolving, WND’s correspondent at the White House and the second most-senior reporter on the White House beat, had wanted to ask the White House spokesman – Josh Earnest in Jay Carney’s absence – the question, “Does the White House agree with Sen. Ben Cardin that ‘oil supply is up and demand is down so there is no logical reason why gas prices continue to soar?’”
Kinsolving also wanted to ask, “Does the White House agree with Sen. Cardin’s statement: ‘We need to take decisive actions now to stop the speculators who are driving up prices for all of us at a time we can least afford.’”
Boehner to Obama: Clarify Your Hot Mic Comments to Medvedev
With President Obama back in the U.S. after his trip to South Korea, Speaker John A. Boehner sent him a letter demanding answers about comments he made to the president of Russia earlier this week that were caught on a hot mic.
In the lengthy letter, Mr. Boehner said he was particularly alarmed about the message Mr. Obama’s comments sent to incoming Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I and other members of the House have previously expressed concern about your administration’s apparent willingness to make unilateral concessions to Russia that undermine our missile defense capabilities,” the Ohio Republican wrote. “Your comments reinforce these worries.”
