Felons Voting While In Prison In D.C.
Washington, D.C.’s council seems posed to let felons vote while they are still serving their sentences in prison. Surely, that has the benefit of ensuring that these individuals turn out to vote. But one claim made to push the change, that felon disenfranchisement is racist, is absurd.
Many states have had that rule as long as they have been states, and places such as Vermont in 1793 or later in North and South Dakota can hardly be claimed to have adopted these rules because of concerns about black voters.
Democrats used to argue that once felons had served their time, they had paid their debt to society and should be able to vote. Now, after Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) earlier this year argued for felons to vote while they are in prison, even for those who have committed the most horrible crimes, other Democrats have picked up the cause.

Cheap Kirkland Signature rotisserie chickens aren't only a quick way for families to get dinner on the table. For Costco, the chickens are a lure, pulling customers into stores and getting them to browse the aisles, adding sometimes hundreds of dollars worth of items to their shopping carts before they pick up that bird.
The chickens have become almost a cult item. 91 million were sold last year, double the number from a decade earlier. They have their own Facebook page with nearly 13,000 followers.

Cities ban new drive-thrus to fight climate change
Drive-thru windows at fast-food restaurants, banks and other businesses have long represented the convenience for which American businesses are renowned. But the ease of idling in a vehicle while waiting for your order is now associated with another development: climate change.
As a result, some communities across the U.S. are banning drive-thrus, citing the additional carbon emissions that are released. Minneapolis this summer banned construction of new drive-thrus, while officials in Long Beach, California, have imposed a six-month ban on new drive-thrus while they study the issue. Similar ordinances restricting or prohibiting fast-food windows have also been adopted in communities including Creve Coeur, Missouri; Fair Haven, New Jersey; and Orchard Park, New York.

Hillary Clinton Announces She Will Seek Reelection As President Of The United States
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Hillary Clinton has announced that after much debate she will seek reelection as president of the United States.
Pundits on MSNBC, CNN, and ABC News have long pondered whether Clinton would seek reelection or allow someone else to step in, and now she's made a definitive declaration.
"After much deliberation, consultation, and prayer to Moloch, I have decided that I will seek a second term," she said to a crowd gathered at a local Wendy's restaurant. "I feel I haven't accomplished everything I wanted to in my first term, and I really need a full eight years to implement my final solution to all of America's problems."

High schools in California will have mandated start times aimed at helping sleepy teens
By law, all high schools in California will soon start their days at a certain time — but it's not something kids will be groaning about. The new mandated start time benefits teens, who naturally like to sleep in. Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation that will require all high schools in the state to begin their days after 8:30 a.m., CBS Los Angeles reports.
The new law also requires middle schools to start after 8 a.m. It will go into affect for the 2022-2023 school year.

'He's not our boss': Fox News anchors trash Trump in meeting with advertisers
Multiple Fox News anchors were quick to disparage President Trump during a meeting with advertisers.
Some of the network's news hosts including Bret Baier, Martha MacCallum, and Chris Wallace addressed advertisers in Manhattan to assuage concerns that the president controls the network.
“Contrary to the opinion of some people, he’s not our boss,” MacCallum stated, according to the New York Times, while pointing out the president's attacks against the network for airing interviews with Democratic presidential candidates. “It is kind of shocking to hear that he really — that’s the way he thinks about how we should cover the election.”

Recent rabid raccoon marks 16th rabies case in Worcester County
A rabid raccoon was captured last month at Decatur Farms, making this the 16th rabies case of 2019 in Worcester County.
The raccoon was caught in a trap on Sept. 28 on Schooner Lane in the Decatur Farms neighborhood off Route 113 in Berlin, according to the Berlin Police Department.
Angela Richardson, rabies program coordinator for the Worcester County Health Department, said 26 confirmed cases of rabies occurred in 2018, with10 reported situations in 2017 and 14 instances in 2016.
“This is similar to the pattern over the past several years,” Richardson said.
If wild animals, including a raccoon, skunk, fox, or feral cat, are “behaving in a threatening or obviously sick manner,” that could constitute a red flag, Richardson said.
Anyone who sees any rabid animal behavior in Berlin, or if a pet is involved in an altercation with an animal suspected of rabies, that person should call the town’s police department at 410-641-1333.

GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz ejected from closed-door impeachment meeting
A Republican member of the House Judiciary Committee was ejected from a closed-door impeachment hearing.
Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida tried to enter a hearing Monday in which lawmakers from three different committees are interviewing President Trump’s former top aide on Russia, Fiona Hill.
Gaetz said he believed he should be allowed to attend the hearing because impeachment inquiries traditionally are handled by the House Judiciary Committee, and he serves on that panel.
But the House parliamentarian told Gaetz he is not allowed to attend the hearing because he does not sit on either the Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, or Oversight panels, which are the official committees conducting the impeachment inquiry.

Dems Decimated in Louisiana: GOP Gains Senate Supermajority, Dem Governor Now on the Ropes
Two major statewide races are headed to run-offs, and both are looking pretty good for Team Red. The incumbent Republican Secretary of State won a plurality of the vote, but didn't reach the bare majority threshold required to stave off the two-way election, scheduled for November 16. The Democrat in the contest only won about one-third of all votes, but because two other Republican challengers were in the mix -- combining for roughly 25 percent of the aggregate vote -- the sitting officeholder was held under 50 percent. All in, the trio of GOP candidates won 66 percent of the ballots for this office. This is going to be a Republican hold. Then there's the big one: The gubernatorial race. Democratic incumbent John Bel Edwards, a pro-life moderate, was unable to avoid a runoff, attracting just 46.6 percent of the 'jungle primary' vote. The two leading Republicans in the contest racked up 51 percent of the vote, with the top GOP vote-getter, businessman Eddie Rispone, advancing to directly challenge the governor in November. Tulsi Gabbard is a progressive, Samoan American woman, and Democratic candidate for president. But apparently we’re supposed to believe she’s also a Russian stooge and alt-right figurehead.
On Oct. 12, the New York Times published an absurd hit piece — as a “news” article, not opinion — lambasting Gabbard and grossly distorting her candidacy. It’s apparent from the incredulous, not objective headline: “What, Exactly, Is Tulsi Gabbard Up To?” and the subhead of the article, which reads: “As she injects chaos into the 2020 Democratic primary by accusing her own party of ‘rigging’ the election, an array of alt-right internet stars, white nationalists and Russians have praised her.”
