Many addresses focused more on bashing Trump than supporting Biden

A day before the Democratic National Convention kicked off, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, the event co-chair, said it was a time for unity and that the party had to “put the 'us versus them' in the rearview mirror.” Most of the high-profile speakers during the convention's first night apparently had other ideas, using the opportunity to bashPresident Trump.

Here are five key moments from Monday night's convention speeches:

Sanders warns of 'authoritarianism' and 'the future of our planet'

Sen. Bernie Sanders, former Vice President Joe Biden’s chief rival in the Democratic presidential primary race, spent the bulk of his address delivering a grim message to viewers, highlighting the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis and insisting to his progressive supporters -- who may not be fans of Biden -- that the former vice president was America’s last hope for preventing “authoritarianism” under Trump.

“At its most basic, this election is about preserving our democracy,” Sanders, I-Vt., claimed, stating that under Trump’s administration, “the unthinkable has become normal,” and that “authoritarianism has taken root in our country.”

He went on to take personal shots at Trump, calling him and his administration “frauds” and insisting that the president is “a threat to our democracy.”

It was only after such attacks that Sanders spoke about Biden, assuring voters who may be further to the left than Biden that the former vice president would fight for at least some of their ideals, such as a higher minimum wage and fighting climate change.

Sanders then closed by returning to the warnings of doom, claiming that this November “the future of our planet is at stake.”

Maryland bankruptcies continue to climb during pandemic

More than 7,200 of Maryland’s businesses and consumers have filed for bankruptcy this year, according to the latest data from the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), which covers the months of January through July.

Of those businesses and consumers 73% (5,274) filed for Chapter 7 relief (liquidation) and 26% (1,906) filed for Chapter 13 relief (payment reorganization).

Maryland ranks 42nd among states with the greatest year-to-year increase in bankruptcy filings.

States with some of the highest coronavirus positivity rates also had some of the highest increases in year-to-year bankruptcy filings. They include: Texas (11th), Florida (12th) and California (27th).

Cumulatively, Texas, Florida, California and Illinois which are the states with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S., account for more than 90,000 of the nearly 341,000 bankruptcies that have been filed in the U.S. and its territories so far this year.

“That seems sizable,” said Kathryn Tenpas, a nonresident senior fellow for Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution. “I don’t think the numbers look bad,” she added.

Anthony was arrested in 1872 for voting illegally and sentenced to pay a fine of $100 and court costs

President Trump announced Tuesday morning he will give a posthumous pardon toSusan B. Anthony, one of history's biggest figures in the women's suffrage movement.

The announcement came 100 years to the day after the 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

Anthony, a strong anti-slavery pioneer who died in 1906, had been arrested in 1872 for violating laws that had permitted only men to vote in the presidential election.

Largest Ever Heroin Bust in Georgia Links to Dangerous Mexican Cartel, Say Feds

On July 27, agents with the Atlanta DEA office in collaboration with other federal agencies executed multiple search warrants at apartments and houses believed to be acting as stash and distribution spots for the metro area. The seized items were publicly displayed this week and are officially believed to amount to the largest heroin bust in Georgia’s history.

The searches included a studio apartment where agents found around 28 kilograms of heroin, six kilos of cocaine, eight kilos of marijuana, at least $1 million cash, 41 firearms, and paraphernalia. At another home, agents found 142 kilos of heroin and 4 kilos of cocaine.

Trump says he will 'look very strongly' at pardoning Edward Snowden after previously calling him a 'traitor' who should be 'executed'

Donald Trump on Saturday said that he was 'very strongly' considering pardoning Edward Snowden - the former CIA employee who leaked highly classified information from the National Security Agency.

In his strongest indication yet that the 37-year-old could be coming home from exile in Russia, Trump said at a press conference held at his Bedminster golf course that he was weighing up Snowden's fate.

'I'm going to take a look at that very strongly,' he said.

The Progressive Racism Of The Ivy League

If the definition of racism is deliberate discrimination based on race, color or national origin, Yale University appears to be a textbook case of “systemic racism.”

And, so, the Department of Justice contends.

Last week, Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband charged, “Yale discriminates based on race… in its undergraduate admissions process and race is the determinative factor in hundreds of admissions decisions each year.

“Asian Americans and whites have only one-tenth to one-fourth of the likelihood of admission as African American applicants with comparable academic credentials…

“Yale uses race at multiple steps of its admissions process resulting in a multiplied effect of race on an applicant’s likelihood of admission.

“Yale racially balances its classes.”

Yale defends this admissions policy by claiming it considers the “whole person” — leadership, a likelihood students “will contribute to the Yale Community and the world,” and, says Yale President Peter Salovey, “a student body whose diversity is a mark of its excellence.”

Yet, somehow, when all these factors are considered, the higher-scoring Asian and white students invariably come up short, because the racial composition of Yale’s incoming classes remains roughly the same every year.

The Justice Department refused to wave its big stick — a threat to cut off tax dollars that go yearly to Yale. Incidentally, Yale sits on an endowment of some $30 billion — second only to Harvard’s.

A court case alleging that Harvard emulates Yale, or vice versa, and admits Black and brown students whose test scores would instantly disqualify white and Asian students is headed for the Supreme Court.

Turley: Despite the guilty plea, Democrats still denounce this 'investigation of investigators'

“Gosh almighty.” Those words from former Vice President Joe Biden sum up plenty about the announced criminal plea by former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith. Of course, Biden was not referring to the implications of the FBI lawyer who lied to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court for the efforts to continue the surveillance of an adviser to the campaign of Donald Trump. Nor was he referring to growing evidence that the Russia investigation was launched based on false and flawed evidence.

Biden was referring to the federal investigation by United States Attorney John Durham that led to the criminal plea by Clinesmith. Like most other Democrats, Biden previously denounced the investigation and the effort to look into criminality. Now that criminality has been found, Democrats and commentators still insist there are no reasons to continue it.

From the start, Democrats overwhelmingly condemned the investigation despite admitting Durham is a respected prosecutor. Leaders like House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff deemed the investigation “tainted” and “political.” Biden mocked the very idea of an “investigation of the investigators” and added, “Give me a break. Gosh almighty.”

The activist group ShutDownDC took credit for organizing the protest, writing on Saturday morning that they had "deliver[ed] democracy" to the postmaster.

"Louis DeJoy, one of Donald Trump’s big donors, is dismantling the U.S. Postal Service ahead of mass mail-in voting in the 2020 presidential election," the group stated.
Lately, they claimed, DeJoy "has fired or reassigned much of the existing USPS leadership and ordered the removal of mail sorting machines that are fundamental to the functioning of the postal service."

Mark Alexander: Dear Victims — in the Wake of Leftists' Defunding of Police

There is a dramatic crime surge in Democrat-controlled cities nationwide, particularly those where leftist mayors have prevented police from defending the public and are actively defunding police operations. That surge includes a 30% increase in homicides in New York, where six people were murdered over the weekend. The surge has prompted 80% of black residents in New York and across the nation to affirm they want cops protecting their neighborhoods.

No surprise that New York City’s police union, for the first time in decades, endorsed a presidential candidate: Donald Trump. Announcing the endorsement, NYCPBA President Patrick Lynch told Trump: “In the New York City PBA, sir, you earn the endorsement and you’ve earned this endorsement. I’m proud to give it.” In response, President Trump noted succinctly, “No one will be safe in Biden’s America.”

In Portland, Oregon, where the mayor and city council are defunding police and refusing to prosecute rioters, the Oregon State Police, who were called in by the governor and mayor to relieve federal law enforcement officials, fired a strong shot over the bow of that state’s politicians. In an official statement announcing they were pulling out of Portland, the OSP declared: “The Oregon State Police is continually reassessing our resources and the needs of our partner agencies and at this time we are inclined to move those resources back to counties where prosecution of criminal conduct is still a priority.”

Douglas Andrews: Is the Collegiate Death Spiral Coming Soon?

Our nation's colleges and universities are long overdue for a fiscal reckoning.

For those of us on the Right, it’s about time. Our colleges and universities have for years grown unchecked by free-market principles, fully enabled by a corrupt deal between spiraling tuition costs and endless government subsidies. And all this while serving as leftist indoctrination camps for our children.

It’s a noxious bubble that can’t burst soon enough.

“Colleges and universities were already facing mounting financial pressure,” writescolumnist, scholar, and university professor Steven Hayward, “because enrollment is steadily declining and certain to get much worse in the coming decade (the result of falling birthrates back at the time of the housing crash in 2008-09). Add to this the financial hit they are taking right now because of the virus, on top of the huge loss this year of foreign students who typically pay full tuition rates and subsidize other students, and a large number of colleges and universities face a serious risk of insolvency.”

Add to these pressures the reduction in enrollment of foreign students (they pay top dollar for an American college education), the cancellation of this year’s fall sports season (football, with its ticket sales, lucrative TV contracts, and licensing deals, is the meal ticket for nearly every other university sport), and the decision by many students to put off college at least temporarily, but perhaps permanently, and we can see why even Stanford has found it necessary to cut 11 of its sports programs altogether.

Spikes in emergency room visits found for respiratory problems in the days before a thunderstorm

A team of researchers from the University of Oregon, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Illinois has found evidence of an increase in the number of people going to the emergency room for respiratory problems in the days before a thunderstorm. In their paper published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, the group describes their study of Medicare data and thunderstorms and what they learned from it.

Over the past several decades, there has been anecdotal evidence of spikes in emergency room visits for patients with respiratory complaints in the days leading up to major thunderstorms. It was first described in 1983 in England and then twice again in Australia in 1987 and 2016. At that time, scientists had no explanation for the spikes, though they suspected that it was linked to an increase in pollen in the air. In this new effort, the researchers looked at Medicare data describing emergency room visits for people over 65 with respiratory problems over the years 1999 to 2012, and compared it with atmospheric conditions for those involved.

The researchers found that there were, indeed, spikes inemergency room visits by people with respiratory problemssuch as COPD or asthma prior to thunderstorms. They also extrapolated the data to make estimates for the U.S. as a whole, suggesting that there were approximately 52,000 extra ER visits due to approaching thunderstorms for people over 65 with respiratory ailments over the time period they studied.

In all of U.S. history, we have never seen anything like “the mass exodus of 2020”. Hundreds of thousands of people are leaving the major cities on both coasts in search of a better life. Homelessness, crime and drug use were already on the rise in many of our large cities prior to 2020, but many big city residents were willing to put up with a certain amount of chaos in order to maintain their lifestyles. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and months of civil unrest have finally pushed a lot of people over the edge. Moving companies on both coasts are doing a booming business as wealthy and middle class families flee at a blistering pace, and most of those families do not plan to ever return.

Los Angeles is a perfect example of what I am talking about. Once upon a time it attracted wealthy and famous people from all over the globe, but in 2020 it is “a city on the brink“…

Today, Los Angeles is a city on the brink. ‘For Sale’ signs are seemingly dotted on every suburban street as the middle classes, particularly those with families, flee for the safer suburbs, with many choosing to leave LA altogether.

Almost half of the entire homeless population of the entire country now lives in the state of California, and a large proportion of them are addicted to drugs. Needless to say, this has created a nightmarish environment…

Prosecutors Working For Kamala-Mentored DA Committed "Substantial Abuses" During Smollett Investigation

Before the pandemic, we had Jussie Smollett - the former "Empire" star whose racist 2019 hate-crime hoax destroyed his career, stoked racial tensions nationwide, and cost Chicago taxpayers a reported $130,000 in police overtime thanks the MSM and prominent liberals who breathlessly reported Smollett's lies as fact.

And according to findings by a special prosecutor tasked with investigating what looked like a massive cover-up by the Cook County DA's office, State's Attorney Kim Foxx and her assistant prosecutors committed 'substantial abuses of discretion,' but did not break the law.

To review, Smollett claimed that two white Trump supporters in MAGA hats assaulted him on a freezing cold January night at 2 a.m., calling him racist and homophobic slurs before beating him up and leaving a noose around his neck (which he was wearing when police arrived). The actor said he chased the two white men off after the alleged 'hate crime.'

Kamala Harris - who mentored Cook County DA Kim Foxx and was coincidentally working on an anti-lynching bill at the time with Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), called it a 'modern day lynching.'

BREAKING NEWS: Sunfest Canceled, Town Moving Forward with Planning for SunLITE

The Ocean City Council voted to officially cancel Sunfest on Monday night, after weeks of discussion about the future of the event. Vendors that already made deposits will be refunded, and their spots will be saved for 2021. The town planned to host the 46th Annual Sunfest from October 1-4 in the hopes that the Covid-19 pandemic would no longer be a threat. However, as the event draws closer and the virus continues to spread, officials simply do not believe that holding a major festival is possible.

The 2020 Sunfest has been a hot topic of conversation for the council since the beginning of August. Earlier this month, Special Events Director Frank Miller revealed that statewide Covid-19 restrictions apply to Sunfest, preventing large music events or food tents from being a part of the coveted festival.

Miller said that the loss of ticket sales from musical entertainment alone amounts to $142,000. While he said that the event could still generate revenue, he was skeptical of the willingness of businesses and vendors to participate. A survey of 157 vendors revealed that 38% were questioning whether they would participate, and 54% said that they were comfortable attending. However, 13% of the people willing to attend were motivated by concerns of losing their spot at a future festival rather than actually coming to the 2020 event.

Several weeks ago, Miller and members of the council warned against the backlash the town would face in the media if they were to sponsor the event. They also discussed the negative impact on the event’s reputation as one of the top festivals in the nation.

The responses from vendors, the potential for bad optics, and limitations due to Covid-19 led the council to unanimously vote in favor of the cancellation of Sunfest.

Universities ask students to play 'Coronavirus police' Report peers

As colleges across America reopen for in-person learning this fall, some are asking students to report peers who might not be following guidelines that universities have set up to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

For example, the University of Miami has set up a system where “students are encouraged to report concerns about unsafe behaviors” of their peers, and administrators will review the concern.

Texas A&M University has a similar system where faculty members and administrators can file a report if they are concerned someone else on campus has COVID-19 or has come into contact with the virus.

Tulane University also has a system where university members can report “problematic behavior” related to COVID-19, and depending on the circumstance, are asked to call the university police.

For months Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean has been trying to tell her tragic story. Her in-laws, Mickey and Dee Newman, died in separate New York elder care facilities during the coronavirus pandemic. She has made no secret of the fact that she blames Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his nursing home mandate, which forced facilities to accept recovering COVID patients. Over 6,000 COVID patients were reportedly sent to elder care homes over the course of 46 days. When New York lawmakers began hearings on the subject, Dean was ready to testify. But the New York State Senate didn't want to hear it. A few days before the first meeting was set to begin, her name was taken off of the witness list. She later found out that was because the Democratic majority would have been too "uncomfortable" with her testimony.

New York Republicans gave her the chance to speak on Monday, and through a painful amount of tears she managed to get through it.

Mickey and Dee's health had been declining for some time before they went into elder care facilities, Dean explained. It was "the first time in their lives they had been apart like this." Mickey's facility went into quarantine in March and she was notified that he'd be moved to a different floor to make way for a new crop of patients. Dean says that she now believes that some of those new patients were ones recovering from COVID. Some days later the staff called her husband to notify him that his dad was sick. He had a fever, and three hours later he was dead. They were told it was likely a result of coronavirus.

"We only got confirmation when we saw it on the death certificate," she said.

Researchers found evidence of plastic contamination intissue samples taken from the lungs, liver, spleen and kidneys of donated human cadavers.

"We have detected these chemicals of plastics in every single organ that we have investigated," said senior researcher Rolf Halden, director of the Arizona State University (ASU) Biodesign Center for Environmental Health Engineering.

There's long been concern that the chemicals in plastics could have a wide range of health effects ranging from diabetes and obesity to sexual dysfunction and infertility.

This figure illustrates the rise and fall of deaths from covid-19 in four different policy environments. The data were obtained from Worldometer.

Sweden: The Control Group

Sweden (blue dots) has served as a control group to compare policies intended to decrease deaths from covid-19. Sweden has been unfairly criticized for its policy despite having an outcome more favorable than places with authoritarian lockdown policies. Sweden did not close its schools. Other than stopping gatherings of more than fifty people, the Swedish government left decisions of closing businesses, using masks, and social distancing to the Swedish people. The government encouraged the use of masks and social distancing, but there were no requirements and there were no penalties for those who declined to follow the advice. Mortality attributed to covid-19 hit a peak value of 11.38 deaths per day per million population on April 8, 2020. This mortality was matched on April 15, and mortality has decreased since then. Daily mortality has been less than one death per day per million population for the previous eighteen days. Cases are very low. For all practical purposes, the covid-19 epidemic is over in Sweden. Almost certainly herd immunity has been achieved in Sweden irrespective of any antibody test results. Testing is usually only for IgG antibody and the herd can become immune via IgA antibody or cellular mechanisms that are not detected by the usual testing. Whether covid-19 will reappear this next fall or winter remains to be seen.

California Might Become the First State With a Wealth Tax

The proposed legislation would impact nearly 30,400 Californians and raise $7.5 billion for the state’s general fund. The tax would be 0.4 percent of net worth that exceeds $30 million for single and joint filers.

(TNS) — A group of state lawmakers on Thursday proposed a first-in-the-nation state wealth tax that would hit about 30,400 California residents and raise an estimated $7.5 billion for the general fund.

The tax rate would be 0.4 percent of net worth, excluding directly held real estate, that exceeds $30 million for single and joint filers and $15 million for married filing separately.

California is facing a big budget deficit because of the health and economic crisis brought on by the coronavirus, and “we can’t simply rely on austerity measures,” to close it, said Rob Bonta, D-Oakland, lead author of AB2088. “We must consider revenue generation.”

Police Chiefs Most Open to Reform Are the Ones Leaving

The cities that have been the most aggressive about demanding reform and altering policing practices are making it difficult for chiefs to carry out the desired policy changes — or even stay on the job.

Police chiefs are always carrying out a balancing act, caught between the demands for accountability from elected officials and the public on the one hand and resistance in the ranks on the other.

“You’ve got two main constituencies — you’ve got the community and you’ve got the cops,” says Chuck Wexler, executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum, a research and consulting group. “You’re not allowed to lose either of them and keep your job.”

Given the intense pressure policing is now under, a number of chiefs have lost their jobs. Last Monday, Seattle Chief Carmen Best stepped down hours after the city council voted to cut her department’s budget by $100 million (including a slight salary cut for Best herself).

A new MRC analysis of all evening news coverage of President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden in June and July found these networks chose to aim most of their attention and nearly all of their negative coverage on Trump, so Biden escaped any scrutiny of his left-wing policy positions, past job performance or character.

From June 1 through July 31, the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts focused 512 minutes of airtime on the President, or nine times more than the 58 minutes allotted to Biden. (This excludes coverage of the Trump administration in general when not associated with the President himself.) This is an even wider gap than the spring, when Trump received seven times more coverage than Biden (523 minutes vs. 75 minutes).

Biden calls for mandate requiring all Americans to wear masks

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday called for a nationwide mask mandate to help fight the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Every American should be wearing a mask when they’re outside for the next three months at a minimum,” Biden told reporters in Wilmington, Del.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee spoke after sitting down for a briefing on the coronavirus with public health experts. He was joined at the briefing by his newly named running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris of California.

As Chicago Nears Panic, Lightfoot's Partisan Blather On National Television Only Hurts

From Hyde Park to the Gold Coast to Edgewater, residents across the city are adjusting their daily routines out of fear. They’re avoiding neighborhood walks after 6:00 p.m. At night, they don’t stand too close to their windows or dare to enjoy their outdoor balconies or terraces. Their children, who will likely be homebound for the remainder of the year, are forced to play indoors because local parks and playgrounds have been inhabited with litter, vandalism, and crime,” This is not a way to live, and I can’t fault homeowners when they tell me they’re considering leaving Chicago.

That’s from an open letter sent Wednesday by the president of Sudler, one of the biggest property management companies in Chicago, to Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

He’s hardly alone. A chorus of similar voices arose after Sunday night’s riots from a broad sector of Chicagoans. A few examples:

“The fear is spreading, the anxiety is spreading and we’re seeing individuals who used to see the downtown areas, like the crown jewel of our city, now wanting to leave…and stores who were just starting to get past the main riots and looting thinking that they may not stay on the Magnificent Mile anymore,” said Alderman Ray Lopez.

“The streets are empty and this time of year hotels would be full and the streets would be full. The rioting and violence have stopped people from coming downtown,” a Chicago business owner told “America’s Newsroom.”

“It has to stop,” Ashley Jones, a Gold Coast resident, said. “It has to come from the highest level up top. We can’t have our city looking like this.”

The head of Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police wrote to U.S. Attorney John Lausch and Attorney General William Barr Wednesday, calling on federal officials to intervene, saying Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx applies a “presumption of dismissal” for charges related to looting.

Black Chicagoans are perhaps more fed up than anybody. Englewood residents told Black Lives Matter members to get lost when they tried to stage a protest there and, nationally, a whopping 81% of black Americans don’t want less police presence, which BLM wants.

Maybe the city got at least got some comfort Monday when Lightfoot finally showed no sympathy for the rioters and called for tougher prosecutions.

President Donald Trump has predicted catastrophe if states continue to pursue universal mail-in voting for the November election, saying there will be chaos and massive delays in announcing results.

'Universal mail-in voting is going to be catastrophic, it's going to make our country the laughing stock of the world,' Trump said at a press conference at his New Jersey golf club on Saturday.

Trump blamed Democrats for failing to make a deal on emergency funding for the U.S. Postal Service, which faces historic revenue shortfalls in the pandemic, and defended his new Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who has come under heavy criticism for cost-cutting measures that have cast doubt upon the agency's ability to handle election mail on-schedule.

Disney confirms its first bisexual lead character in an animated series: The Owl House features 14-year-old girl named Luz dancing with a girl who has a crush on her at prom

Disney now has its first ever bisexual lead character, thanks to The Disney Channel animated series The Owl House.

Following the debut of a recent episode in the series, show creator Dana Terrace revealed on Twitter that the series' lead character, Luz Noceda - a Dominican-American girl - is definitely bisexual.

The Owl House, which premiered in January, centers around 14-year-old Luz who finds a portal to a fantasy world and attempts to fulfill her dream of becoming a witch while attending school there.

Presumptive Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris is not the moderate the mainstream media seeks to portray her as, attorney and Federalist Society member Mark Pulliam told "Life, Liberty & Levin" in an interview airing Sunday.

"I think these days, in the age of the resistance, particularly among presidential aspirants in the Democratic Party, almost everybody espouses this type of hyper-progressive rhetoric," Pulliam, a contributing editor at "Law & Liberty," told host Mark Levin. "But in her case, if you go back to her track record from when she started her political career in California, you can see very disturbing signs that she really believes these things and that she has acted, in the past, consistently with these beliefs."

Joe Biden’s owes all of his current political capital to the fact that Barack Obama selected him as his running mate in 2008. His 2008 campaign barely resonated with Democratic voters. But Obama needed someone who, on paper, had something he did not: experience. So Biden was picked as his running mate, and Biden’s political stock shot up.

Biden, in turn, repeatedly name-dropped Obama during the 2020 primary campaign, and referenced their continuing close relationship.

But despite the public image (created by Biden) that Barack Obama and Joe Biden are BFFs,sources told Politico that there are significant tensions between them and their camps, and that Obama really doesn’t think too highly of Joe.

Obama also specifically questioned Biden’s fitness for office.

“Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f–k things up,” Obama is alleged to have told one source for the article.

Members of the Biden team are also not too thrilled with Obama, and complained that Obama’s endorsement of Biden was weak compared to his 2016 endorsement of Hillary Clinton.

In 2016, Obama wholeheartedly endorsed Clinton, saying, “I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office.”

Compare that with Obama’s endorsement of Biden earlier this year, made only after Biden was the last candidate standing: “I believe Joe has all of the qualities we need in a president right now … and I know he will surround himself with good people.”

But tensions go deeper than Obama’s half-hearted endorsement in 2020.

But sending ballots out based on a voter roll registration? Any time you move, you change your driver's license but you don't call up and say, by the way, I'm reregistering for -- "

TAPPER: "But there's no evidence of widespread voter fraud. "

MEADOWS: "There's no evidence that there's not either. That's the definition of fraud, Jake."

Joe Biden Alienated Black Voters by Picking Kamala Harris

When presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden chose Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) as his running mate, he may have known he was alienating conservatives and moderates, but he likely didn’t anticipate alienating black voters. According to a groundbreaking poll from Rasmussen Reports, Biden’s VP pick has given black voters second thoughts about supporting the Democratic ticket in November.

The latest Rasmussen poll found that a third of black likely voters said they are “less likely” to vote for Biden after the Harris pick, while a third said they were “more likely” to do so, and another third either said the VP pick will have no impact or their votes or that they weren’t sure what impact it will have.

About a quarter (24 percent) of all likely voters said Biden’s VP pick would make them more likely to vote for the Democrats in November, while another quarter (24 percent) said it will make them less likely to vote for Biden. Half (50 percent) said Harris would make no impact on their vote.

The vast majority of likely Democratic voters (76 percent) said they had a favorable opinion of Harris, with 48 percent calling their opinion of her “very favorable.” Only 18 percent had an unfavorable view.

Following the death of President Trump's brother Robert Trump, critics of the president have been tweeting the hashtag #wrongtrump, as if to say that it should have been the president to die instead.
As of Sunday morning, the hashtag was the second highest trending on Twitter, with more than 77,600 tweets, including a journalist and an NAACP leader.

"Dear Grim Reaper, You took the #wrongtrump," tweeted Bishop Talbert Swan, who is a pastor, radio host, and president of the Springfield, Mass., branch of the NAACP.

President Trump's brother Robert Trump dead at 71

Robert Trump, President Trump’s younger brother, who served as a top executive at the Trump Organization, has died. He was 71.

Robert’s death on Saturday comes a day after he was hospitalized in New York Friday. In June, he spent more than a week in the intensive care unit at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Robert took blood thinners, and had suffered brain bleeds since a recent fall, a close friend to the family told The New York Times.

“It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight,” the president said in a statement.

“He was not just my brother, he was my best friend,” he went on. “He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever.

“Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”
