State Lawmakers Vow To Pursue Stronger Legislation After the chaos in OC

The resort area’s representatives in Annapolis have vowed to pursue even stronger legislation aimed at thwarting some of the behavior associated with the pop-up car rally that inundated Ocean City again last weekend.

State Delegate Wayne Hartman (R-38C), who represents Ocean City and Worcester County, was on the front lines for much of the weekend, riding along with the Ocean City Police Department on Friday and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday. Hartman said in a taped message what was displayed in pictures and videos of the unofficial event did not do it justice.

“It’s hard to describe and hard to imagine what happened in Ocean City and how intense it was and the magnitude of it,” he said. “It was typical for 12 to 15 law enforcement officers to be dispatched to a particular site to disperse crowds. More often than not, those law enforcement officers were met with rocks, water bottles, beer cans and fireworks being shot at them.”

Hartman, who was instrumental in getting the enhanced special event zone legislation through the General Assembly last winter, vowed to go back to the drawing board this year.

Mass arrests with no bail until Sunday with a tent city holding facility

Every year we hear the same people saying they are going to take steps to stop the H20i crowd. It reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day except it every year instead of every day.

Why do I keep getting this when I want to click "More" to read the rest of the story??

"Carozza praised the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) and its allied partners for doing yeoman’s work in what was seemingly an impossible situation at times last weekend."

She is so dumb that she has no idea who "its allied partners" were! All She wants to do is post cute little memes with the Ocean City PD patch on it so she can post it on her social media accounts.

Mary Beth Carozza is only doing this for her to see how far she can advance her agenda.

Thank you Delegate Wayne Hartman for going to the front lines to see what was happening from these hate-filled ANTIFA hate mongers!

Mary Beth did post some cutsie memes for her social media pages though... LMAO.

Wayne Hartman please run against MBC for State Senate in the 2022 election!

Something very strange is going on here. There are many severe laws already on the books for assaulting anyone and especially leo's. Have you seen the new mv laws for OC? They can take your license and impound your car on the spot for merely blowing your horn or revving your engine. You really want tyrants making more laws like this? You think they'll only enforce these unconstitutional laws on that week? You might want to reel in some of that authority before its too late. As for corrosa...you should have known, being endorsed by communist hogan what this old hand bag was worth.

LMAO. These FOOL'S we have in Maryland couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time.

VOTE AGAINST ALL INCUMBENTS!!! That are term limits.

I have voiced this on multiple forums but will do it again. Simply CUT OFF the fuel that these idiots NEED. Without their fuel needs, the unrest CAN'T continue. AND they cannot continue an endless parade up and down Coastal Hwy....... when they run out of gas, impound them and collect another fine. DUH!!!!!

The cars, for the most part, are under control. I live in OC, I saw it. LE did a great job.
The focus now should be on the sidewalks.
The cars aren't starting the riots; the people spectating are.
Hartman has the right idea: Make it a Federal Hate Crime to attack, in ANY way, a LE officer. It's only right.
Serious consequences is the ONLY thing this crowd understands.
These aren't Urban street people that seem to think going to jail is a Badge of Honor. These are mainly White kids from the suburbs that actually fear being incarcerated.
Once they know that they may be jailed they will behave much better I assure you, just as the cars - facing major penalties - did this time around.
Mr. Hartman: Do it!

With Mr. Hartman out on both Friday and Saturday (watch H2oi videos - some kids thought he was the governor) it shows his commitment to understanding what first responders are dealing with. I wonder where the mayor was - I don’t recall seeing him (or for that matter any member of the council). That tells the readership all they need to know. Time to get back to reality and put Republicans in charge.

This needs to be handled way better
OCPD 28 and South
WCSD 29 to 60
NRP 60-80
Other Agencies 80 North
MSP ONE COMMAND CENTER
With four sub units so they can have control

Stop impounding cars for money and stop spraying people with skunk spray.

Set up Jersey walls in some areas for traffic control and people control. Using buses and police cars adds to confusion

Rolling police barricades

Sanction the event and have people sign up to follow rules with special decal so if they have a car to low they know and don’t drive around but use for show.

Saw this on H2Oi site. The original founders never wanted this. Much like peaceful protests it’s been hijacked by an awful crowd.

To 7:49:

You pretty much had me until "Sanction the event and have people sign up...".
You really can't be serious. What are you? 65? 80 years old?
First of all (and foremost), this has absolutely NOTHING to do with cars. It's all about people. Young people.
Ask your grandkids what a "Social Media Event" is.
Sanction what? Sanction "air"? Sanction who? The people on the sidewalks throwing stuff?
Wake up: This is what happens in todays world when someone gets an idea on social media and it catches on.
Teenagers having their version of fun is all it is, just as our parents (grandparents!) used to do mobbing on 9th Street on the Boardwalk. (They called THAT a riot!)
You suggest, basically, that we should be nicer.
What a load of old-timer crap that is. It won't work.

Put them in ICE detention centers

Unbelievable - trying to keep piling new laws, rules, etc onto an issue. Not to mention all suggestions cost a lot of money.

Rickie - you had this YEARS ago but failed to embrace the suck man. Flash forward to now and its a growing disaster. You and City Fail can't manage yourselves out of a room that HAS 4 exits.

More rules/laws/jersey barriers? HAHAHAHA This definitely shows you don't know what you are doing. Enjoy your legacy!

Now move over and let new adults manage OUR store!

11:16 Teenagers having their version of fun? I’m not 7:49 nor am I anywhere near 65 but every video I saw showed nothing but a bunch of drunk, disorderly, and disrespectful brats. God forbid you’d have to try to be “nice”. 🙄I’m reminded as to why our country is in the toilet. You’re generation recurved way too many participation trophies and it shows. You’re parents should be so proud.

Hey 12:54...

Just wanted you to know that your response must've been cut-off accidentally here before you could finish your thought.

You were certainly right on point recognizing all the obvious things that went wrong, but the part where you offered your solution was missing.
Please re-post. We would all be very interested.
I don't mind waiting.....

All they want is to make money off the deal. Oc make bank and just ticked the kids off more. I agree with make a deal with the people that run the show and stop saying they are not welcome. It gets bigger every year, and they get ticked off. I was in oc and it wasn't that bad. There is a way to help control it better. Right now, you just ticking them off. They don't care about fines etc. It will just be a huge go fund me event. Come up with another plan besides making money off tows.

What about working on the June problems as well?

I would expect there will be some sort of input session for residents to voice their concerns, as well as multiple sessions for the police and town to examine what was effective (and not effective.) I'm sure the police are actively monitoring all of the social media and will continue to do so until they feel that that have done all that they could. It is interesting to note that many of the moderators of the various social media accounts that are actively following the pop up event are all putting out messages to cover themselves (I'm sure a certain lawyer in town advised them to do so - it wasn't like he was running adds or anything) and in one particular media post, ALL of the post administration is gone and replaced by others.

I guess it's not much fun to be held responsible for behavior...

To all the LEOs that took part, as well as all of the first responders, I am thankful for your efforts and service to ur community. Mr. Hartman, than you for being the only politician that I am aware of that was in the thick of thing both Friday and Saturday night. That counts a lot for us regular folk.
