Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement after a meeting of the Board of Revenue Estimates:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented fiscal crisis for state and local governments nationwide, which according to Moody’s Analytics will face $500 billion in shortfalls over the next two fiscal years, with more than 4 million jobs at stake.
“Today’s revenue estimates are still nearly $1 billion less than what was budgeted prior to the pandemic. Because of our early and aggressive actions, Maryland’s fiscal situation remains challenging, but is significantly less painful than it could have been.
“Nearly six months ago, after dire projections by the Bureau of Revenue Estimates, I immediately implemented a budget freeze and directed the Department of Budget and Management to make recommendations for budget cuts in all state agencies. In addition, the Board of Public Works unanimously approved a series of targeted reductions. And, unlike many states, we were able to keep more than 70 percent of our economy open throughout the entire crisis.
“With this public health and fiscal crisis far from over, it is no time to declare victory. Though we are in a better position both economically and health-wise than much of the country, this is still the biggest fiscal challenge we have ever faced. We will continue to plan for the worst, press Congress to act on additional relief, and make the tough decisions necessary to balance our budget.”

The main reason larry hogan kept the closures going and continued closings was to force a federal bailout for the state. Zero concern for all the businesses and families he destroyed for this reason. Most of MD could have opened safely MONTHS ago. He, like the other democrat governors purposely destroyed their states. There should be severe accountability for the unlawful orders and corrupt acts. Malfeasance and misconduct.

@3:35 Baltimore and "Democrat run counties" economies are what's keeping Maryland afloat. Ocean City was dead this year because of COVID, and conservative places like Carroll or Garrett County aren't exactly booming tourist spots.
if did not help that you spent millions on tests that did and still do not work, not worth a plug nickel. Then shutting down retail, but not Target, walmart or Sams. There's no difference in buying a pair of shoes at the mall vs buying a cheap pair sold by Walmart, all because they don't sell milk and bread. Maybe all retail needs to install a milk and bread dispenser. Shutting down the hospitals from doing anything outside of covid and employees being let go because they were not needed while the hospitals stayed emptied out. You along with the rest of the bozo's and your anti-Trump moves have done this. This all falls at the feet of the Governors of every state that did this. You Hogan being chairman, well you own it!
Well Larry on the Corner...you have been large (hehehe) and in charge thru this entire crisis...uh...governors ARE responsible for all state action. So tell us how you are and Annapolis are gonna fix this fiscally. What? Cut services like you traditionally do. What? Raise taxes. What? Here's what's going to happen. Democrat controlled general assembly is being called in for a "Special Session". Democrats will override Hogans veto on funding for Purple Line in Baltimore/DC. Democrats will override Hogans hold on funding for extended billion dollar Thornton Plan on education. Democrats will vote for increased taxes to make up for funding they do not have. The Governor is just a bobble head and it's the Democrats who control all funding. And so it goes on and on in Democrat Maryland.

In a socialist country you pay for everything. Socialism is the seizing and division of personal property to others including housing. If your house is deemed to big, it's seized by the state and 5 families move in. You are on the street. If your business is profitable, it is seized by the government. Government employees take over, all of the money goes to the state. You work there earning money for the state. Eventually, their people get tired of the fat cats of the government keeping everyone down and there is a revolution. It becomes a dictatorship.
