Virginia May 19 COVID-19 update: 1,005 new cases, 27 deaths reported; Most Accomack chicken plant cases likely still not added

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia reported its fourth highest number of daily COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with 1,005, as its daily COVID-19 deaths rebounded with 27 after two days of deaths in single digits.

Just over half of those cases were in Northern Virginia, with only 17 new cases reported between Accomack and Northampton counties on the Eastern Shore, where most of Accomack’s 510 chicken plant cases still haven’t been added to the overall count. The Virginia Department of Health, which announced the cases on Friday, said it’s having to manually insert the cases and some of the workers don’t live in Virginia, delaying the data input.

Daily cases had dipped slightly past two days, but the overall trend of cases is still rising, VDH’s chart shows.

Duh.

People stopped being vigilant about distancing and staying put, due to all the misinformation being pumped out about "opening up" and the rhetoric demonizing government officials that actually listen to the science.

Morons left their homes like the lemmings they are to act as sacrificial guinea pigs.

I mean... anyone who watches Fox News... tell me what their narrative has been? Yet they tell their employees to stay put for next few weeks?

Yes, I am sure the number of folks that have had Covid is higher than the number tested, but we are nowhere near heard immunity.

When will people stop with the absurd conspiracy theories and just start listening to the one reliable and predictable metric? The actual science of it?

Give it a break. You have all 50 States beginning to open up. Why is it only Virginia STILL having problems?? Didn't they learn anything 6 weeks ago when the Tyson foods has issues??? You must be another government employee who gets paid for sitting on your ass. It's the only reason for your stupidity.

842 - don't be jealously bitter for not being smart to hitch a ride on the Gov't Train. Never knock it unless you've tried it.

The weather is great, the water is always warm and paycheck in the bank every other THURSDAY!

Stick it - donk!

More fudged numbers. They continue to give us new CASES. Why not give us the numbers in how many were tested with the new cases?? It's called a reference point. We all know the more tests being done. The more news cases will be.

@ 7:51 - "Science"? Here? Are you kidding? Most on here can't even spell "science" without looking it up.
