A hairstylist worked while symptomatic and exposed 91 people to coronavirus

(CNN) A hairstylist with coronavirus worked for eight days this month while symptomatic, exposing as many as 91 customers and coworkers in Missouri, health officials said.

The case highlights the threats of community spread in the United States as businesses reopen after weeks of restrictions to combat the spread of coronavirus.

In this instance, the 84 customers exposed got services from the hairstylist at Great Clips, said Clay Goddard, director of the Springfield-Greene County Health Department. In addition to the customers, seven coworkers were also notified of exposure.

It's unclear when the stylist tested positive but the infection is believed to have happened while traveling. The stylist worked May 12 through Wednesday, health officials said Friday. At the time, businesses such as barbershops and hair salons were allowed to operate in the state.

"The individual and their clients were wearing face coverings. The 84 clients potentially directly exposed will be notified by the Health Department and be offered testing, as will seven coworkers," the Springfield-Greene County Health Department said in a statement.

"It is the hope of the department that because face coverings were worn throughout this exposure timeline, no additional cases will result."

This is a test, an epidemiological test.

Northwest Woodsman: More Pedomarxist attempt to prolong the panic provided by the usual, CNN. I knew from the initial statement that it came from some Marxist organization.

Not a thing to see here. There will be if any of those exposed actually got the virus.

That 77 year old Barber in Michigan could be a virus spreader too!

Right. Some relative you never knew you had *could* drop dead and leave you 100 million dollars. What part of close prolonged contact is so hard for you people to understand?

I scanned over the piece before reading. When I noticed cnn, is when I stopped. Everyone has freedom of speech and can write what they want. So glad I have freedom to pass it by and not read or believe some trash. The way these turds disrespect the POTUS is shameful. He was successful when most of these children were chittin’ yellow.

Well, as much as my whole family needs a haircut, it is not a necessity. When the local places opened this past week, there was a mad rush to get a hair cut. I’ll wait three weeks and see how much of this occurs before I consider getting my family trimmed up. Until then, we’ll go with the baseball hat salon.

This issue is trickle down economics. You may think your cut isn't a necessity. Either is going to the bar or out to eat. The issue is, your haircut is a necessity to your hair dresser. Your purchase at the resteraunt is important to the owner. No one cares until it affects you directly, your pay. We are slowly destroying America. Actually, no, it is happening fast.

Exactly 12:29 High unemployment whether you are employed or not affects everyone. Most don't think about things like property values lower, government services scaled down cut back. Non profits same thing. Stores that are able to remain open raise prices to compensate so everyone pays more. Also what many don't know is grocery stores and even places like Walmart have higher prices in the lower income areas. Sounds like it should be the other way around but it's not. You go to the more affluent areas like Northern VA and some of the suburbs of NYC and the grocery prices, cleaning supplies, paper products are all noticeably lower. This because people buy more items which makes up the difference. In lower income areas they just come in and buy a few needed items so are paying higher prices.

I would use this piece of news for toilet paper if needed , nothing is fact and substantial . DRAMA ! If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his a$$ at landing.

I agree nothing to see here though it does have the democrats praying. Praying that everyone the stylist came in contact with gets coronavirus and all die so they can go after the governor who is a Republican.

At least their hair will look good at the viewings.

Sure this is CNN propaganda, as they get their agenda from MSNBC.

Not real.

The Lancet a peer reviewed medical journal published a summary awhile back of the first known case person to person spread in the US. It was a 60 something yr old woman who had returned from a trip to China and shortly after developed symptoms. It was determined she had contact with over 300 people. Out of over 300 only 2 transmissions occurred and this was people who had prolonged unprotected exposure to her. 1 was her husband who wasn't in China with her but of course lived with her. The other I'm not sure but certainly another family member or someone else living with her.
