Iraq's parliament votes to expel ALL 5,000 US troops after Qassem Soleimani killing

Iraq's parliament has voted in favour of a resolution to remove foreign troops from the country, in response to the US drone attack that killed top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

It came as sectarian violence broke out across the country in response to the assassination of Major-General Soleimani in a US drone strike on his convoy at Baghdad airport on Friday.

Around 5,000 US soldiers are currently stationed in Iraq, to aid the fight against ISIS.

But today, lawmakers approved a resolution asking the government to end a security agreement between Iraq and the US and expel American forces.

George W. Bush put it very well:

"You're either with us, or against us."

Should have split into 3 nations. North to the kurds and let sunni and shite figure the rest out. Either move them north to Kurd area or bring them home. Diplomacy was destined to fail. Remember, before we showed up Iran and Iraq had been fighting a nasty war that killed millions, yet now they(shite) embrace and will always HATE America.

Should have taken out their oil wells and refineries and impose very severe economic sanctions ASAP.

Don’t get all worked up folks : this is pretty much a symbolic gesture and holds no weight - the majority of the voting faction was not present for this, so it’s not anything more than a show. However, if it becomes a reality, you can be sure that Iraq will be very, heavily sanctioned, something they can’t afford and dint want

We never should have invaded Iraq Saddam Hussein had it under control and he had Iran in check it was a bad mistake.

Context, please. It's only a resolution, and is not a law. Only the Prime Minister can make us leave. The USA has an agreement to be there. The resolution does not void the agreement. All that resolution is, is a political stunt to appease the upset masses, over the USA taking out one of their ally's generals on their soil. It's like Pelosi's nothing burger impeachment. Has no weight of law.
