Somerset County Sheriff's Office Press Release- (Student with a firearm)

Incident: Student with Firearm

Date: October 4, 2019

Location: Somerset Intermediate School, 7970 Tawes Campus Drive Westover, MD, 21871

Narrative: On October 4, 2019, at the Somerset Intermediate School, students and staff informed the school principal that a student had fled the building after making comments that they possibly had a firearm on them. School staff and students were immediately placed on lockdown as the school system as a protocol in place for emergencies. The school resource officer assigned to that school requested more officers respond to the school to assist in locating the student who fled into the woods. A search of the woods was formed by officers which resulted in the student quickly found and placed under arrest without any injuries to staff, students or officers. A firearm was located in the student’s backpack and quickly secured. The student was transported to our office for processing and later transported to the Lower Shore Children’s Center where he is currently being held. Somerset Intermediate School was also searched by multiple officers to make sure there were no further threats to the building. School returned to normal operation later in the day without any further incidents. This investigation is currently ongoing between the school system, The Somerset County Sheriff's Office, and The Department of Juvenile Services. More information will be passed on to the public when available. Somerset County Public Schools sent out a countywide “Robocall” to all parents giving them an update of the situation at the school. We would like to thank the students who quickly told the staff the information that was heard by that student, as that information was critical to the quick response and ultimately safe outcome of this incident.

How does a kid get a gun ? Ask his parents or should I say his parent , it's obvious he has multiple fathers . You can also guess what culture this kid comes from . When will you guys get it? Public education is not only a waste but it is dangerous . I guess the best way to put it is public education is 12 years of high paid baby sitting. Paid for by you , ain't that a laugh!

9:36 I really feel sorry for you. I'm sorry you were not educated and hope that sometime in the future you will go back to school. It's clear that home schooling failed you. I hope your life improves.

No kid should be allowed to purchase and carry a pistol. We need STRONGER GUN LAWS

Anonymous said...

That's why metal detectors are needed in schools.

@9:36 How stupid and immature you are. Multiple Dads? Culture? You have no concern for OUR kids and should keep your ignorance to yourself. Thank GOD there wasn't a mass shooting, killing or injuries to the students and staff. Also for the quick response
