Deadly 'superbug' fungus spreads globally; cases confirmed in Md., Va., 10 other states

ARLINGTON, Va. (WJLA) — A potentially deadly superbug fungus has been spreading in the United States and worldwide. The latest count from the Centers for Disease Control showed nearly 600 cases of the drug-resistant Candida auris in 12 states, including Maryland and Virginia.

Considered a “serious global threat,” cases have been confirmed in every continent in the world. In the U. S., most of the cases are in New York City, Chicago, and New Jersey.

Candida auris can cause different kinds of infections, including bloodstream infection, wound infection, and ear infection. Most cases occur in patients in hospitals and nursing homes who have weakened immune systems.

"Based on information from a limited number of patients, 30 – 60% of people with C. auris infections have died. However, many of these people had other serious illnesses that also increased their risk of death," the CDC said in a statement.

Democrats do not see the connection between sudden surge of infectious disease since the illegals have started their mass invasion. This illegals should be shipped to all these Politian's neighborhoods.

I looked this up on a few websites and they say it is found in healthcare facilities, but it does not give much info on how or where it originates. Forgive my ignorance, but can anyone give insight on how it grows and where the fungus naturally occurs other than "healthcare facilities". Can anyone elaborate?
