Truth! How many Americans know the amount of taxes they pay annually or what percentage of their money goes to the government? My guess is more than half of us don't have a clue.
If income taxes aren't withheld from pay checks a lot of people wouldn't have the money to pay them.If you really wanted to make people aware of the taxes then have them write a separate check for each tax they pay. For example: if you buy something at the store you would write one check for the item purchased another check for any federal taxes another for any state taxes another for local taxes. People would be very very aware of how much the government takes from us wastes and the crap would really hit the fan.
