Nursing Home Launches New Investigation After Woman In Vegetative State Gives Birth

The owner of a long-term care facility in Arizona where a patient in a vegetative state was impregnated and gave birth last month has hired a former Maricopa County Attorney to lead an internal investigation into the "facts and circumstances" leading up to the sexual assault.

On Sunday, Phoenix-based Hacienda Healthcare confirmed in a statement that it had recruited Rick Romley "to ensure a comprehensive, objective and transparent review of the facts of this deeply disturbing matter."

"Mr. Romley will have unfettered access to every facet of Hacienda's business —including all the records related to this matter and all the operational procedures related to the [facility]," the board of directors said.

"We will do everything we can to aid this review and, once it is complete, to make sure this unprecedented situation never, ever happens again," they added.

Don't forget the DNA.

This place should be closed down.

That's a good idea. DNA is the answer. Test every man whoever worked there.

A further issue is how the pregnancy went undetected by her "caregivers". No one noticed cessation of menses? No one felt a kick while bathing her? No one noticed any weight gain in the abdomen??

No, just test every man that's worked there in the last ten months. Testing someone who hasn't worked there since before then, can't prove anything. They wouldn't / shouldn't have had access to the patient.

If you have ever had a loved one in a 'nursing home' you would understand why the female resident's pregnancy went unnoticed.
Low wages and shortage of staff are the rule there. My first surprise was that my family member was never helped with brushing her teeth in the morning or evening. When I questioned this floor supervisor told me that brushing teeth is not on the list of priority needs of the 'residents'. It was all down hill from there.
I noticed there were several hard working people there, but they did all the work that the 'low energy' (lazy) workers didn't do. And issues needing attention (changing diapers) was always left for the oncoming shift workers.

What a sexist statement!

Test the women also. Some men are presenting as women. It could be a heterosexual man who presents as a woman and is only known as a woman by all who work there.

Just saying . . .
