Report: 'Star' Players Consider Sitting Out if Kaepernick and Reid Not Signed

Activist and Intercept columnist Shaun King, claims that he’s spoken to “several NFL stars” who have told him that they’re “considering sitting out the season until the de facto ban on Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick is removed.”

The report also claimed that the star players intended to “get 25% of the players to sit out with them.”

King tweeted:

BREAKING: Several star @NFL players have told me they are considering sitting out the season until the de facto ban of Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick is removed and both men are given spots back on rosters.

They aim to get 25% of the players to sit out with them.

Should players choose to sit out it would almost have to be “star players” who do so, for the simple reason that they’re the only ones who could afford to do it. NFL teams can fine players up to $40,000 a day for missing camp, according to Pro Football Talk. Not to mention what the players might lose in endorsement money while protesting a policy that has a 53% approval rating.

Shaun King the lair who tried to get a police officer charged with rape of a woman in Texas. A white person trying to be black. A turd stirrer of racism. screw him

Let those dumb bastards sit on the bench with Kaepernick. See how much money it is in it while they back their dumb-ass co-hort.

I hope this happens and the NFL goes away. This would be one business I wouldn't miss. Bunch of ignorant liberals.

shut the whole damn league down!!!

They are all disrespectful and unpatriotic turds!
Let them sit out and not get paid!

Good! Give some decent young mean a chance to play.

I think it's a great idea.

Until they talk to their wives. Let me see...sit out and don't get paid. Play and get millions. I be playin.

I hope they get a lot of quality time with the kneelers when they get fired for breaking their contracts.

WONDERFUL. Make a stand. If the owner who had made millions off the players, then it is time for the player to dig a big holes in their pockets to decrease what they value the most, MONEY more than people.

Let them sit out Fine them to the max. The fines should go to the Veterans, Seniors and homeless children. Owners should not be allowed to keep the fines since they are to blame for this BS to continue. All Tax dollars should be cutoff ASAP not waiting for unpaid tax dollars to the owners. Then make the owners to pay back the Tax dollars by forcing them to buy the Stadiums and upkeep and all operating expenses ASAP.

Sit out you arrogant asses! Stop watching anyhow! Won't make any difference! You have lost the fans, and we don't care about the NFL.

We've always said NFL player are good/great at what they do, but we never EVER said they were smart!

Wondering what you believe makes these guys arent decent. Oh, they disagree with you. Got it.

I used to watch football to get away from the politics of daily life. I stopped watching when politics to preference over playing the game. I understand what the players are trying to say. What the protesting players cannot comprehend is where to hold their protest. They are there to play and we pay money to watch. We pay money to buy products they endorse. We pay money so our kids can go to their camps. We pay and they play. It's that simple. It's not about free speech rights. I have the freedom to say what I want also. But if I were to say something in the place that I work that made the company I work for look bad, I would be fired.

Tell them to go for it!!! Watch as lose the rest of their viewers!!! Soon they will all be out of work! Poor little BLM's!!!

Anonymous said...

Please oh please let them keep their word! Give us more reasons to turn it off again next year.

Totally agree 100 percent.

2:54 wake the hell up. You do not think the NFL did not have numbers checked. The majority are sick of it. The platform was wrong from the start. If they want to kneel they can take a knee outside the stadium in front of the flag. They they can drive off in their Ferrari to their multi-million dollar homes. Yep they have it bad here in the U.S. Maybe Africa will start a league lol. A bunch of millionaire cry babies. I think they could do a lot more to help the situation by mentoring to the youth. I see where a Black basketball player called out Houston Texans J.J. Watt for paying for the funerals of the children killed in Texas two weeks ago. The man raised millions for the flood victims. Donates large sums of money to minority charities. I guess he embarrassed the gold chain wearing thugs around the leagues. Nothing is ever enough for some. Time to put up or shut up.

Sign them up for yard work, that is all they'er good for!

The NFL is history to me, there are so many other sports on TV that take me away from the buzz of politics, war, and other world strife issues that a bunch of NFL idiots who want to bring politics into sports is dead to me. Sports is a place I go to escape politics, and always will be. I will follow all sports who participate in sports alone and no others. I will never know what the NFL players this season, as I will do what I did last year; watch other sports!

The NFL committed suicide, and it's not my fault.

Simply incredible. 28 comments about football and less than 5 on most of the posts about economic matters. It's evident what the majority of people consider to be important. SMH

Economy is doing good, not standing for the flag is bad.

Across his NFL career Colon K was a so-so quarterback; some good years and some not-so-good. When he turned into a problem child he had already lost the starting job but still had a healthy contract.

His political views must have also skewed his inflated self-image. He supposedly had a couple of possibilities with other clubs that he blew with comments from his camp or insistence that he come in at starter pay.

It's a given that his skills haven't sharpened in the meantime. Best guess is he's now trying to shake golden apples from NFL's money tree via his lawsuit. Hope he fails.

His 'game' would have been best suited for a trip to the CFL (side benefit-wouldn't have to kneel). Would be surprised to see any/few NFL players actually miss work or run risk of a fine on his behalf.

Regrettably a number of vocal NFL players have not had to crack a book since their athleticism was recognized in high school or college. They have played it forward to their "Real Life". I can only assure them if they smite the hand that feeds them, they shall fail. Who then will want to hire a functional illiterate that may wish to kneel when there is a line full of customers waiting.

Go for it. Make room for some patriotic players who respect the difference between personal politics and your job and I’ll start watching again.

Has anyone notice that all TV shows have blacks as co-stars? Every movie with white people have a black co-star, but blacks can have their own movie without a white person unless they are playing a demeaning role.

This started in the 70's and 80's when every police show had to have a black police chief as the boss. If you notice it's the same way today. They are forcing whites to love blacks and to be lower than them.

Has anyone noticed that many commercials on TV now have a white guy with a black girl? Just like the commercial with the pregnancy test. Then there is that auto insurance commercial with the bearded white guy and a black woman and their bumper is rammed in a grocery store parking lot. Then the woman gets out and takes a picture to send to the insurance company. The irony with this one is the white guy looks like a gorilla and growls like one as well.

Then there is a commercial with a white guy and a black woman and they have a biracial girl. The guy has irritable bowel syndrome or something and he spends more time in the bathroom than with the girl.

Then there are many commercials with a pretty white girl and a black guy with biracial kids.

Why are the commercials forcing white/black relationships on us? This isn't the makeup of America, it happens, but it is a very small percentage.

LOL it's tooooo funny let them sit out doesn't hurt my bottom line.

That's a fact. After I read this I turned on the tv and saw you were correct.

It's time sports goes by the wayside. Too damn full of worthless, disrespectful thugs. Most of them have criminal records anyway. Our children need REAL hero's. Let it just remain a kids game while in school.
