Double amputee soldier from DC died while paddle boarding on Chesapeake Bay, police say

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A double amputee soldier from D.C. is dead after going paddle boarding on the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis Wednesday, according to authorities.

Maryland Natural Resources Police say 25-year-old Cody Iorns of D.C.died after he had a medical emergency while paddling off Tolly Point on the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Severn River. Iorns was an Army specialist who served as a field medic before he lost both his arms in a motorcycle accident in 2016.

Iorns was part of the paddle boarding company Capital SUP Annapolis, who said in a statement that they are shocked and saddened at his passing.

What's interesting is Captial SUP is the same buddy Jake Day built that silly looking dock for at the last minute on the Wicomico that he rushed to have ready for Memorial Day a couple of weeks ago.

Capital SUP is the same buddy of Jake Day's that bailed out last year and never came back.
