A soldier stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina was arrested on Friday in connection to a 2013 cold case rape out of Texas.
Levi Austin Goss, 24, was finally connected to the brutal beating and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in Cypress, Texas after he was arrested for drunk driving last year and ordered to submit his DNA to a national database.
That DNA was a match for that found on the girl's body after the violent incident five years ago.
Harris County Sheriff's Deputies also showed a picture of Goss to a witness, who correctly identified him as the suspect.
The witness told police at the time that they saw a man go into a bathroom at an Exxon gas station about a mile from the scene of the crime. He was wearing a bloodied grey shirt and had scratches on his neck and face, and told workers he had been in a fight.
