47 Percent of Americans Think Life Begins at Conception

Most Americans believe that life begins in the first three months of pregnancy, but nearly half of them believe it begins at the very moment of conception — when a sperm and an egg fuse to create a zygote with unique human DNA.

According to a new survey, 47 percent of Americans said life begins at conception, while only 14 percent said it begins at "viability outside of the womb," and only 10 percent said life begins "when a baby is born."

Nearly two-thirds of Americans (62 percent) said life begins either at conception or within the first three months of pregnancy, according to the survey, which wasreleased by Marist Poll and the Knights of Columbus (KoC) earlier this month.

This view helps to explain why Americans favor broad restrictions on abortion. According to the poll, half of Americans (50 percent) said abortion should only be legal in cases of rape, incest, or a threat to the life of the mother; or only to save the mother's life; or never at all. A full 76 percent said abortion should be restricted to the first three months of pregnancy, or these rare cases.

A sperm cell and egg are both already alive.
So in reality, Democrats aren’t just killing the developing embryo, they are stomping on the fabric of life.

When abortion was made legal, the limit was 12 weeks. Because medical professionals knew that there is a heart beat and brain waves at that point. None of us know when God places the spirit in the unborn. But His Word says He is the one who creates us (the spirit and soul) so who are we to end a life in the womb? We cannot play God and get away with it.

I guess the next question would be.. .so what?

Who cares what percentage of people believe anything? It's irrelevant to argument.

Until such time as "life begins a conception" can be demonstrated, the default would be the null hypothesis.

Same goes for a "soul". Until it can be demonstrated, it can be considered as real as fairies or unicorns.

What you think your deity says or thinks is irrelevant to the discourse. If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one. It's simple.

This is not an issue we'll ever agree on, nor will we solve, and it only serves as a polarizing distraction. Lets get past this and work on things we can solve, and we can agree on so we can accomplish real progress... cause this debate just mires everything up, and there is no answer, there is no solving it.
