The Island Creamery, in business since 1975, has officially made its debut in America’s Coolest Small Town, Berlin MD! The same great flavors we have come to love from their original location in Chicoteague, VA have made their way up the coast for the north end of the Eastern Shore to enjoy. All of their ice cream flavors, which are made on site in Chincoteague, consist of fresh and natural ingredients. The all-natural premium butterfat mix comes from Lancaster County cows to ensure a rich and creamy ice cream.

Opened by Bob & Nancy Conklin 43 years ago, the Island Creamery is now owned and operated by their son, Kelly, along with his wife Robin. The Creamery is very much a family business as their children Drew, Cole, and Courtney are the third generation of family members to be involved with the business. Even while visiting the Creamery in Berlin we asked the employees how long they have been with the company. Several were hired as new Creamery team members specifically for the Berlin location, while others had been with the company for up to 10 years. It’s easy to see why some would choose to work with the Conklins for an extended period of time. The atmosphere is very positive and upbeat. The colors are vibrant and the smell of homemade waffle cones is out of this world.
