While the classrooms may look the same, report cards this year will look different.
Starting now, “marking period grades will be based solely on achievement of course and grade level standards”.
“We want to make sure that an “A” truly does mean that a student has mastered material,” said Baltimore County Schools Superintendent Dr. Dallas Dance.
Classroom conduct, homework completion and ability to work with others will not factor into the overall grade.
It’s a concept that has some concerned.

I went through the education process all the way through college at JHU. Homework was to help you reinforce what you were taught during lecture. If anyone tells you it's not important, start looking for someone else to advise you.
It's weighted to favor those who are good at test taking, too.
This is the same genius level superintendent who hired the BLM protest guy for 160K to lead Baltimore's HR office.
So we should be sitting on the edge of our chairs looking for more genius level moves, like this one.
If they devoted half as much time and effort to actual rigorous instruction as they do to creating workarounds, shortcuts, lowering the bar moves and grade inflation the kids might learn something. But that would shine the light on the gap between achievers and non-achievers; low level lighting is their preferece.
