How many Wrecks before a real large traffics device can be installed.

How many accidents before drivers start to look both ways, twice before crossing??
You can't fix stupid no matter what you put there. "STOP" means STOP!
A man slows down at a stop sign and keeps driving. A cop sees him and pulls him over.
The cop asks "Why didn't you stop?"
The man says "I slowed down!"
The cop pulls out his nightstick and starts bashing the car.
Cop: "Do you want me to stop or slow down?"

Human error, compounded with the typical 70+mph, and this is what you get. People really need to slow down on Rt 50, it is out of control.
I really don't get what's so difficult about STOPPING and LOOKING before crossing the highway. Seriously, where did these people get their licenses?
That intersection needs a light for crossing the West bound side of rt50. Moving that traffick down the highway for a "j-turn" will simply move the problem down thevery road. People are just in too much of a hurry. The only way to slow them down is a traffic signal on the West bound side!
I love it. "People need to slow down on Route 50" you say. "People drive 70 mph on Route 50" you say. When the police are out stopping cars for speeding, you complain and call them "revenue generators". Make up your mind!! I can't make this hypocritical stuff up!!!
Yes lets put in a traffic light so we can bunch up traffic and make it harder for people to cross at the next intersection down the road. Also we can have people running the light and killing people. We can install traffic lights at every intersection from Salisbury to Ocean City and really have people pissed off. Why not make R50 just like R13 on the eastern shore of Va.
Better to be pissed off than dead because someone was in a hurry! You sound like one who hates any traffic control device,God forgive if anyone gets in your way!

Light hell. I've crossed this intersection huncdreds of times over the last 33 years and never once had even a close incident. Too many drivers fail to take personal responsibility to stop, look both ways - twice, proceed with caution assumong something may have changed. Driving is serious and a lot of folks don't understand that. They text, gab on the phone,assume(make an ass of u and me) everyone else is going to be cool to them, think maybe they can make it (don't always), and just basically forget common sense. All that combined with a high volume intersection will obviously lead to accidents. A light won't make a smidgen of difference; the unintended consequences will only make everything worse.
Solution? Make it tougher to get and keep a driver's license. Create an environment where driver's understand they alone are responsible for their own outcomes. Course it won't happen, so we can blame SHA for not making it more difficult for us to f-up, er, a, make a mistake.
I don't see what is so hard about this intersection. It's not like you have to look both ways. If you are the traffic is only coming from one direction

Yeah let's put up ANOTHER traffic device at a cost of 500,000 dollars so they can ignore that too.
That's right blame it on the intersection. Stop signs will NEVER out smart people. UNLESS, YOU LIVE ON WICOMICO COUNTY.
Has nothing to do with traffic lights! People need to put the cell phones down and stop being in such a hurry! That's the real issue, not traffic lights!
5:30 Hopefully God will forgive them because I won't. Traffic devices are an important part of the highway system when used as designed. Unfortunately due to public pressure these devices are installed where a lot of times they do more harm than good. Our government pays a lot of money on studies to determine the proper places for these devices and then ends up tossing these studies because some idiot that didn't deserve a license to begin with causes an accident that gets an innocent person killed. Many times I have driven by that and other intersections where a driver pulled out in front of traffic. Not only did they pull out in front of a line of traffic but they pulled out like they were still in town and people were driving 30 mph. To many idiots drive on the highway like they are in town and to many idiots drive in town like they are on the highway. Yes the speed limit on R50 is 55 mph but if you live around here you know that people are driving 65-70 on that highway even in the winter time. By the way the speed limit on I495 around DC is 55 but that doesn't keep people from driving 80 mph. As 5:58 so eloquently put it driving is serious and if you are going to be on the road you must pay the utmost attention and drive like you have some sense. As for what I said about people being pissed off I wasn't talking about myself but I have seen enough road rage from people to know what I'm talking about. I suspect that you are one of the drivers that invokes that road rage from others. Me I drive 5-7 mph above the limit and stay in the right lane except to pass. Once the pass is complete I pull back in the right lane when possible. You I suspect are a left lane road hog.
I agree with 5:58.....placing a light there will further snarl traffic in large groups like Wor Wic tech light does now in the busy season.
Just admit that none of you can fix this and move on.
You can't fix STUPID PEOPLE who don't obey Stop signs. NO SIGHT RESTRICTIONS it's people who can't read 4 letters..STOP!!!
I am curious as to who the fault belongs to in the accidents and how they happen. Is the accident caused by someone trying to cross Rt 50? Lane changing? Are there cameras at this intersection?
Please do not say speeding, because like I said earlier, speeding is a huge issue on Rt 50 (and no 457, I do not complain about police on Rt 50, in fact there needs to be more speed traps).
I believe we should have red lights at at least 4 intersections below Wor-Wic. We have proven as a society, we can not follow the currents rules and laws at the intersections.
It's so easy to avoid an accident at this intersection, it's called STOP. People need to stop, look to see what it coming and do not pull out in front of them.

It does not need a light. People will blow right through a light. J turns are the way to go.
