Nice try but you're not seeing the big picture. Yes, the County makes a profit from liquor sales but it could make more profit if it also had a monopoly on gasoline sales. Or maybe we should limit cigarette sales to County owned stores. How about firearms...should they only be sold in County owned stores as well. Think of all the profits to be made there. If we are going that far we might as well limit automobile sales to County stores, and let's include bread and milk, too; lots of money to be made there, as well!
No, government has no business in retail sales, PERIOD!
Government at any level should not be involved in the sale of liquor or anything else to compete with businesses. They are supposed to be nonprofit. If they take in more than they budgeted, give it back to the taxpayers with improved police protection, repair the roadways, install more street lights, etc.

This is something that Joe Holloway and Stevie Prettyman has tried to do several times. It wouldn't surprise me if Joe Holloway didn't tag team Bob Culver on closing it down. Wrong move.

They're not "quietly" looking to close the dispensaries at all. It's been mentioned any times at Council meetings.
Now that Norm Conway, Rudy Cane and Phil Tilghman are out of the picture, I'm sure it is going to happen.

To bad. I support keeping it the way it is.
