OC was also voted 3rd. most expensive beach resort in the US, in AAA magazine.
Anyone visiting today could never have the innocent memories of bliss I had growing up at the beach. There was a wonderful feel to the city because it belonged to US. There was not a bar on every corner and the boardwalk was still a blast and you could walk down it on a Friday night without being shoulder to shoulder.

We like the boardwalk during day light hours only. That being said, the sheer amount of foreign workers is very disturbing and it gets worse year after year.
James Lilefors used to run the newspaper in Ocean City- 2nd place is the best he could get us?! Jeeze!

Well about the sheer amount of foreign workers... thanks for for bringing your kids up like pansies that don't want to work. You coddled them so much and most of them play video games all day.
And second, I'm thinking about starting a business in OC so I can hire some of those lovely women and take advantage of the benefits. Where were they when I was younger and hung out in OC?
We actually visited the Boardwalk on Saturday Memorial Day weekend. We really loved the Giant balloon the beach that had patriotic film projected on it along with laser lights, firework and flames. It was a very nice display.
That being said we were also appalled at the amount of garbage that was littered all over the place. Garbage cans everywhere but trash was just covering the boardwalk.
People just eating their snacks and then tossing the trash on the ground. It never used to be like this but the demographic of those visiting Ocean City has changed considerably over the years.
From Mid Sept til early May, its fine/clean. Mid-may to Labor Day weekend, its a constant sheeeeeet show for sure!!! Tues/Wed during season isn't bad either...
Times have indeed cha-cha-cha-changed and I agree 9:38, outfits of the lovelies have increased over 40 years!!!
Needs an all day long bike path
Not sure how old some of these commenters are but I'm in my late 50's and spent my teen years / summers working on the boardwalk. I remember huge shoulder to shoulder crowds, crazy people, plenty of bars, parties and plenty of litter on summer nights. It really doesn't seem a lot different to me now 40 years later. In fact, many of the businesses that were there in the 70's and 80's are still there! My how time flies.
And I forgot to add that 40 years ago the drinking age for beer and wine was still 18 years old. Certainly made for interesting times on the boardwalk some nights.
