Excuse me for not believing I have earned a thank you and good luck from the Salisbury News Staff . Salisbury News has spent years posting articles and viewers comments belittling teachers.

According to "the facts" posted over the years on this blog, how can you even think we have earned a thanks or "worked" the number of years in the Press Release? After all I can quote "facts" I read on Salisbury News many times that Wicomico County teachers

only put in time 9 months a year,
they only work for the money
the kids are not important
they have 100s of holidays off
they have long spring, fall and winter breaks
unlike "real working people" they get snow days, fog and ice delays,
Training on "Professional Days" is nothing more than "Party time"
parents are irate that their youngs are home because teachers and Dr Freddy closed the schools

No need for me to keep on listing, just do a search on Salisbury News using "teachers" to read all about the "jokes" who teach your kids.

Now you want your viewers to actually think I should be thanked and appreciated for working 20, 30 or 40 years, while putting in time toward my retirement at only 180 days a year.

Sadly for 99% of the teachers who bothered to write, their comments, were either ridiculed or were not posted. Apparently a teacher is not allowed thank yous and appreciation until after they retire on a blog

I received many thanks and show of appreciation from students, and parents, during my career. I could have appreciate a thank you from the staff at Salisbury News during my career. I do not need a pretend one to perk me up after retiring..

This is a press release from the Board of Education. If you have a problem with it take it up with THEM!

Looks like a jail break to me.

After years of degrading teachers, and allowing its reader to do the same SBYNEWS, the publisher and staff, have published a press release where the BOE gives thanks and appreciation. Sorry I actually thought from the Press Release Headline it was SBYNEWS who was thanking the retirees. I should have known your opinions of teachers remain the same My beef is with SBYNEWS, publisher and staff, not the BOE.

The next time we hear of any good stories or good press releases from the BOE I will refrain from posting them. I don't want to confuse you.

I'm not the original person who commented, but I've seen plenty of good posts about the BOE where the comment section turned into a witch hunt. It doesn't matter if its a good or bad story. The majority of posters here will do anything to insult the BOE and anyone they see fit within the BOE.

Really?? I would have thought the comment from Retiring Teacher was posted from one of my child's teachers, but unfortunately they didn't retire. Sounds like them though--only reading half of something and commenting on the other half not read! Also, let's talk facts. If there aren't teachers who "do it for the money", then why did the teachers at North Salisbury receive PayDay candy bars for Staff Appreciation Week? Given to them by a BOE employee! Tasteless and classless!

Give a carpenter two popsicle sticks and tell him it's his fault if he can't build a dining room table and six chairs with those materials. Welcome to public schools.

I wonder how many were forced out by Fredericksen and the rest of his goons.
