The Baltimore riots show that police departments must hold officers accountable for wrongdoing, President Obama said Wednesday.
Obama told Steve Harvey on his morning show that though he supports the Baltimore police officers injured by rioters — adding that there is no excuse for that kind of violence — police departments need to work on accountability and transparency in order to build more trust in minority communities.
"It's in their interest to root out folks who aren't doing the right thing, to hold accountable people when they do something wrong, instead of just the closing-ranks approach that all too often we see that ends up just feeding greater frustration and ultimately, I think, putting more police officers in danger," Obama said. The interview was taped Tuesday and broadcast on radio stations nationwide Wednesday morning.
Retraining police and providing them with body cameras isn't going to be the end-all-be-all solution, he said. Issues like poor education, drugs, absent fathers and limited job opportunities need to be addressed.

Sorry, I don't think this was a police related death. Even the liberal Washington Post doesn't think so.
I think if you watch the statement by the city's State's Attorney, you'll come to a different conclusion.
Well there was a guy who the police had under arrest and he dies somehow while they had him in the back of a police van while he was in police custody and the police were taking him to a police station. How can that possibly not at least be police related?
I never thought I'd ever say I heard him make sense. Now lets see him do something about it all if he wants to leave a Legacy. Fix the schools, stop giving hand outs and educate those thugs to get jobs. Train our police differently!
O acting "stupidly" - what else is new?
CAN YAWL Impeach this clown for Goodness sake?
He's 100% right. The cops are the real "thugs".
Maybe if you didn't run from the police you wouldn't get hurt.

police were involved. it was an illegal arrest. the knife was NOT a switchblade. he died in police custody. police have lied about the van ride. police did not follow policy nor get him medical attention when they were supposed to.
Yeah, I can see how you would think it wasn't a police involved death.
Cops are not Thugs - Cops do not loot, set fires, steal everything they can get their hands on, etc, etc, etc, Most of those thugs don't even have a clue why they are protesting. Just listen to them when they are yelling in the mike. You police haters are just that and nothing will ever change your mind.
And Iit is also in our We The People interest, to Root Out Any Crooked Politicians Who Disobbey the Law of this Land and the Constitution which they swore to uphold, and to Root Out Race Baiting Deceiving Socialist Dictator Liar-In-Chief. And when that happens, We the People Will Rejoice and sign Halelujah!!!
