As we mentioned earlier this week, supporters of higher wages for fast food workers staged protests in cities all over the country today. According to reports, a number of these demonstrations resulted arrests.
Organizers of today’s strike say that at least nine fast food workers were arrested at the protest in New York City’s Times Square, while 42 people were arrested in Detroit, another 23 in Chicago, 11 in Little Rock and another ten in Las Vegas.
The arrests in NYC appear to have been the result of protestors blocking traffic in front of a McDonald’s in tourist-centric Times Square.
“Just getting by everyday, it costs a lot,” one NYC protestor told NY1. “Rent is really high here. I think the average is about $2,000 rent for a one bedroom. Eight dollars an hour is just not enough to pay that alone.”

Get an education and get a better job
Maybe people ate healthy for once.
derk er der....that's the answer to everything anyone says. You can have a master's degree in accounting and still not find a job, but the student loans still need to be paid, not to mention cost of living, etc.
Try the ole Ferguson trick , steal and pillage for a living.
Seems to be working there.
Only investment you need is a pistol , dreadlocks and limited vocabulary , yoo Mamma.
When I started working I was in high school and living with my parents. But as a 16 year old had no skills so we all started at minimum wage and then worked our way up. No high school kid with no skills should start making $15.00 an hour. I never made that much til I was 45 years old and had some skills. Plus most minimum wage earners still live at home with mom and dad and don't need that much money.
If you have a master's degree in accounting and work at Micky D's, you suck at accounting.
So by their wanting $15.00 an hour, does everybody else's wages go up accordingly? It they get 100% increase everybody else should too...that would only be "fair"...I have a degree, and a "professional"...so bring on the 100% wage increase for all! woohoo!
