Publishers Notes: Jim, I'm not going to say I agree or disagree with your comment but I would however like to say the following.
IF YOU sent your child to school with open cuts and bruises, as well as an alleged BROKEN JAW, do tell me what YOU think might happen to YOU?
The answer is quite obvious, you're going to jail for CHILD ABUSE.
SO THAT BEING SAID, WHY IS IT OK FOR A POLICE OFFICER TO ASSAULT AND ABUSE A 14 YEAR OLD CHILD IN SALISBURY BUT HE HASN'T BEEN ARRESTED?
So the LAW is telling us the POLICE have more discipline abilities than the PARENTS. They are ALLOWED to TACKLE, PUNCH and SCAR our children, really?
Be sure to HUG a Police Officer today.

A broken jaw is definately abuse... cuts and bruises or subjective to how they happened. A switch or bely will cause bruising and welts. Hell you can bruise someone just by grabbing them.
Me. as a parent have only spanked... and as they got older I just take things away because I am afraid a child may retaliate and tell someone they are being abused when in fact they are not. But the state is so quick to take the side of the accuser and not know the circumstance.
Now... getting to the cop... the kid did lie to him, and ran away. Why did he lie? But also... stopping him for not having a headlight on the bike is lame... really how bikes have lights? Something else must have triggered him to stop him. Of course now the police video has somehow disappeared... thats bogus also. I agree this cop is overly aggresive and needs counseling at the minimum, suspension at best!
A page out of the Obama, Holder playbook. If the evidence is against you just shred it or lose it. This is one corrupt world we are living in.
Whatever I would trust any cop. Some are the biggest spouse abusers known to this day. Yet the wives these days are petrified of their macho -man. Just ask any cops wife how often they and their children are verbally & physically abused. There's a lot of that going on but never reported.
Why do you people insist on condemning everyone?
The cop was doing his job. Plain and simple.
Joe does make a good argument, put the parent in place of the police officer, would they be justified in using the same force to stop their child from riding the bike or for running away from them? Interesting, very interesting.
There has not been a child born that dosn't need a spanking sometime. It is how they learn not to do certain things. It is for their own good. A 5 yr.old running that has never been spanked runs toward the road and Mom say now stop honey don' t do that. That. child gets run over by a car. But the 5 yr old that was spanked and obeys his parents runs toward the road and Mom says stop the child obbeys and is not killed
Cop should be charged with USE OF EXCESSIVE POWER and the ASSAULT OF THE MINOR. 7:42 Why did kid lie? Geez, all teenagers tend to lie when confronted, does that give cop the reason to beat the crap out of this 14 old kid? ABSOLITELY NOT. Cop could of subdued him or use taser, but instead he broke
the kids jaw. So, now I ask - What would happen to you or me if we would do Jthat?
The cop was doing his job. Plain and simple.

and if he did his job any better the kid would be dead right?
After the Trayvon and Brown issues , i.e. Trayvon was posted as to be a very young child with good intentions , Brown the same.
Maybe cops are very reluctant to trust anyone , I think I would be.
