Salisbury works 24 hour shifts and this can happen to them. WATCH THE VIDEO

Don't blame the shift you hypocrite. The crew member should have spoken up to his officers. To go from 24 hour shifts to 12 hour shifts would require hiring 8 more career providers, but according to you that is a waste. So SFD can't win.

Wow!! The paid fire TROLL must have had a nerve struck!

This video makes a good point. The Butt Wipe commenter doesn't realize that video may help them. I will support 24 hour shifts any day, but I can't support paramedics running their butts off all day while the paid firemen get to sleep all night long because they rarely have a fire.

This is a great video. Did you see how this dude didn't get out to help the people in the crash.

I can't get the video to play.

I have always been amazed that in such a critical thinking environment that hospital doctors, nurses and other caregivers work beyond an 8 hour shift. 12 hour shifts are bound to lead to mistakes, and to put my life in the hands of someone who has been on the clock for 20 hours is totally scary to me.

If all the workers are only working 40 hours a week anyway, it seems to me that all could be accomplished with 8 hour shifts like the rest of the world runs on. 3x8 = 24 every day.

Call-ins = overtime, but the rest is safe time.

Same ones that ride the fire truck ride on the medics. I am a paramedic, last shift I was on an engine and my next shift I am on the medic. Try to understand how the SFD operates before randomly commenting.

Since you work for the SFD try to make me understand how so many of you lack compassion for the patient. Your only goal is to load them up and get the call over as quick as possible. I have seen the SFD and how they treat patients. It should be a crime the way you treat some people.

You know for a fact that the paramedics rarely ever ride the fire engines. So what's the big deal about riding "the fire truck" anyway?

You are correct. They either try to unload the patient as fast as they can or do their best trying to get them to sign a refusal.

This should stay at the top and you will see the trolls come out of the woodwork.

It should be a crime and usually involves a crime when ambulance members respond and get cursed, spit on and exposed to the crud daily. You've never ridden on an ambulance and experienced that side of society.

The paramedics that have to ride the ambulances daily in the Salisbury Fire Department are at risk for this happening because they run their assess off. While the paid paramedics are running all night long for 24 hours straight the paid firemen are curled up and sleeping in their comfy bunks. The paid paramedics are really abused in Salisbury.

brought you out didn't it?

Anonymous said...

8:59pm is a county volunteer that could not pass the test to get hired by SFD.
This can happen anywhere. At the county stations where they rely on people to get up out of bed and drive to the station to get the ambulances out. These people can still be tired and fall asleep. It has happened just not here yet.

I would be curious as to what he did the day/night before his shift. It could tell a lot. Was he out partying late or up all night with his sick child? In all honesty, think of the number of shift workers throughout the country and we don't hear of this happening everyday. But once again, hater libs get on here and want to change something just because.

SFD ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF TRADITION UNIMPEDED BY PROGRESS!!! said...

SFD -Big deal, so overworked. DCFD medic units each average over 5000 runs. Top 15 medic units in Baltimore run over 6000 calls with Medic 21 running over 8300 calls. How do they consider themselves BUSY? All three SFD medic units average about 2000 calls each. As for the busy fire side- if they did not self dispatch the totals would be less than 1000 calls for all three stations.
New day comin' after elections.

how many hundreds of times is it going to have to be said that ALL career firefighters are also EMTs or Paramedics and split their time between the engine and the ambulance before those of you who love to spread rumor and false information will concede? 1000?

lol you are too funny. Maybe you should proof read before you send in your comment.

And actually, the ones that HAVE had experience with ff or medics are most likely the ones WHO DO 'mouth off', (as if they had a brain)lol.

It seems like a lot of you 'public servants' have some kind of 'hero' complex.

I think you all have an inflated sense of self-worth and exaggerations of what you do and your importance.

You guys are very much needed and appreciated when there is a need for your services, BUT, after that, you're not given a second thought.

And blabbing on here, including insulting others does not help your image any.

Who cares if you are an EMT!! An EMT is nothing but an over qualified bandaid boy and they don't even do that. If you really wanted to be something you would become a paramedic. I hear you EMT's squealing like a girl every time you get put in the back of the ambo. "Send me a paramedic ASAP." "What's the ETA of the Paramedic?" "Help" "I'm scared!!"

Your grammar is horrible. No wonder you are only a basic EMT. You don't qualify to pass the entrance test and you are not college material.
