Murder Rate In Baltimore County Hits 35 Year Low

Baltimore County Police say there were 19 homicides in the county in 2013.

Chief Jim Johnson says that reflects about a 17% decrease from 2012 and you would have to go back to 1976 to find a year with similar numbers.

Johnson says the 2013 homicide numbers were well below the previous 5 year average as well and the homicide rate for the past 4 years in Baltimore County is comparable to the period of 1976 through 1979.

19 all year? It can't include the City. Heck, that's probably close to the 2014 number right now!

They are referring to Baltimore COUNTY not CITY where the murder rate skyrocketed in 2013-over 200 (I believe 235 is the exact number) and is continuing at an alarming rate for this new year already.

Yeah, I guess they think people will eat up the name Baltimore and not see the word County.
