Look, another day without any fire calls. The SFD is doing one hell of a job with fire prevention. We are truly blessed we are so safe. Seeing their presence at local sub shops, Rita's, Giant, etc... We as citizens and taxpayers can rest assured that fires will not occur in these types of establishments.

No fires again. Nothing but EMS calls.

That "delayed ambulance" call proves there are not enough ambulances staffed and in service. Proves the Salisbury Fire Department is mismanaged.

What a waste.

We have so much crime in this city and Jim Ireton is paying over 60 firemen to sit around and do nothing all day. Oh I forgot they train, train, and train. That is a crock of BULL!

That 60 firefighter's OVER 4 SHIFTS. Never ever has ther been that many on duty at one time. Please get your facts straight before you post such and asinine comment.

And for the other comment above this one. The City of Salisbury only has 5 EMS units. Only 3 of these are staffed around the clock at any given time. Instead of allowing the volunteers to be alerted to staff the 4th and 5th run units they ALWAYS have a "County" department come into the city to take these calls and will have an engine crew dispatched to the scene to start patient care and await the arrival of the county EMS unit. Hence "Delaye" Ambulance response.

I don't remember anyone said there were 60 paid firemen on duty at any given time so the actual asinine comment was from you.

So you are saying there are 15 paid firemen on duty per shift. Staff those 5 ambulances and cut down the engine shifts with less firemen. It's been proven over and over again that 60 paid firemen are not needed. The need is for the paid paramedics which the administration refuses to hire. You say there are 5 ambulance in house, but only 3 in service? Staff the other 2 and that will give you 5 fully staffed ambulance to reduce burn out. Ten paramedics staffing the ambulances will bring the system up to par.

You say the volunteers take the ambulance calls? How can they do that when there are 3 ambulances at Station 16? Put the other 2 at the other stations and let the volleys there take the calls. Put a surplus ambulance at 16 for the volleys or the over staffed engines and truck.
